All about American enamel

Women are increasingly vain and one of the indispensable beauty rituals is nail enamel. The addiction to colored bottles has become so great that in addition to frequently appearing new brands and collections of nail polish with the most varied textures and finishes, there are also innovative ways to apply nail varnish. Here's how American glazing works.

The so-called American enamelling takes its name from being a very common procedure among professional manicurists in the United States, however, the technique is also widely used in European countries. The innovative form, in fact, is not about nail polish, but the part where we need to remove the excess nail polish that covers the cuticles and sides of the fingers. With foreign technique we use a beveled makeup brush to clean the corners of our fingers, instead of using the traditional wooden stick with cotton wrapped around the tip.

At first, the result of the American technique may cause some women to feel strange, because this way the cuticles are distant from the enamel, causing a white band between the enameled nail part and the skin. This may be new, but it is also much healthier. Generating less skin contact products such as nail polish remover, we have a much lower occurrence of dryness of the cuticles.

To do the American glazing process at home you will only need a regular bevel brush, the same model used in makeup, and a container with acetone or nail polish remover. Having these materials in hand the rest is quite simple, just follow the step-by-step below:

  1. To begin the process you should prepare your nails normally by removing any excess skin from the cuticles, sanding them and getting them ready for the next step.
  2. After that, we recommend using a leveling or protective base to ensure nail strength and nutrition, as well as facilitating the distribution of nail polish.
  3. Begin by applying your preferred nail polish to all nails, but be careful to avoid contact with the cuticles as much as possible. Therefore, pass the layers carefully and calmly so as not to smudge your fingers all.
  4. After applying all the necessary layers of nail polish to perfectly cover your nails, wait about ten minutes to begin cleaning the corners.
  5. To start removing the nail polish on the sides of the nails soak the beveled brush in the nail polish remover and wipe off the excess on a paper towel. If you do not do this, touching the brush to the nail will form a puddle of acetone on the nail, which is disadvantageous.
  6. Position the brush in the center of the nail and go down the side to the bottom. Repeat the process on the other side until all around the nail is clean. Support both hands on a table so that the stroke is firm and there are no errors.

See how simple the process is? With a little training it is easy to perfect and ensure a wonderful result, as well as much healthier. If you still have questions about how to apply the technique, check out the video below and practice when you feel ready.
