Anvisa suspends sale of omeprazole (Gastrium) and sibutramine (Biomag)

The sale of Biomag (slimming) drugs and its generic Sibutramine Hydrochloride, manufactured by Aché laboratory, has been suspended due to its failure to notify Anvisa of a change in its supply of the active ingredients used in its formula.

In addition, Gastrium (10 or 20mg omeprazole) had been produced with a different formula than previously approved by Anvisa. Therefore, its commercialization was also suspended.

It is recommended that those who have these medicines at home also discontinue their use. Only 40mg Gastrium can still be marketed and used normally.

The laboratory should, within the next 60 days, remove all stock of drugs suspended from drugstores throughout the country.

If in doubt, consult your doctor so that he can make the appropriate replacement for another formula that is regularized and approved by the National Health Surveillance Agency.
