Care for using heaters in winter

With the arrival of winter, the demand for heaters increases to make the environment comfortable and warm. But to use the device without causing harm to health, it takes common sense and some care.

It is the electric heater that causes the least damage to health and the oil heater can pollute the same environment as an air conditioner with dirty filters. Gas heaters and water heaters are those that require extra attention as they can cause fires if the manufacturer's recommendations for use are not followed.

These models of heaters consume oxygen and therefore must have thermostat, a device that turns off the appliance when it reaches high temperatures.

During the low temperature season, it is common for the air to become drier and generally, the heaters are placed indoors so that their efficiency is not lost.

The problem is that the use of heaters can further reduce the humidity of the environment, causing discomfort to the nose and throat and aggravating common respiratory diseases such as asthma, rhinitis and sinusitis. A tip to alleviate these annoyances is to place a basin of water in the room where the heater is turned on.

In the case of gas heaters, it is recommended to always keep a window open during use. This is because turning the device on in an unventilated environment can lead to carbon monoxide poisoning, with serious risk of brain injury or death.
