Dermatologist answers tattoo questions

Getting a tattoo is not a decision that can be made suddenly and hurriedly. Definitely marking the skin is the kind of attitude that deserves to be thought through, rethought, and of course discussed with good tattoo artists and their dermatologist, after all, there is a risk of getting an infection or an allergy to some component.

It is even worth talking to friends and close relatives, to make sure that you will get along with the drawing. If you are already sure you want to make your skin even more personalized, read this column carefully.

Before getting the tattoo, you need:

1 ? Be sure of the design you want and where it will stay. It is more than basic not to be guided by fads. You know, fashion will pass and the tattoo to be continued.

If you work in something more formal (banks, law firms, etc.), a super tattoo on display is not as good either. Less formal jobs already accept well. And beware of boyfriends' faces and names: it's sad, but we know that the? Happily ever after? it's more fairy tale, right?

2 ? Choose the trait well. Each tattoo artist has their own characteristics when drawing. So you have to ask to see his previous work and also to make a sketch of the drawing you want. A tattoo artist should inspire confidence in you. If you are in doubt, look for another studio. Exchanging ideas with those who have already tattooed with the professional is a good one.

3? Search for quality, not price, ok? A tattoo much cheaper than normal should arouse concern, not excitement. That's because hypoallergenic inks are more expensive and a reputable tattoo artist doesn't charge as cheap. Remember it is a mark forever.

4? Look for a studio that is regulated by health surveillance (ask to see the document) and that uses disposable materials. Don't be shy about being picky, this is a matter of skin and health.

Care on the day of getting the tattoo

Do not skimp on the hygiene of the place to be tattooed, a clean and well-treated skin gets better tattoo.

Avoid getting tattooed if you are sad or depressed. The risk of regret may be greater. This is the moment of certainties and joys! If you are a little depressed, schedule another day or postpone the plans a bit.

Focus and do not move too much, you can jeopardize the work of the artist.

Care after getting the tattoo

In the first phase of healing (which takes between three and five days), you may experience discomfort and swelling (ask the tattoo artist to explain everything to you, combined?).

After the 3rd day, you should wash your new tattoo at least four times a day with a bactericidal soap and dry it gently and gently using a paper towel. Any strange reactions, run to the doctor and call the studio.

The second stage of healing (lasting up to four weeks) is also important. THE tattooduring healing tends to dry out so you need to keep it hydrated.

Use an antiallergic cream without much perfume. Talk to your tattoo artist about the best products and avoid creams and lotions with fragrances, alcohol, artificial colors and other ingredients that may annoy tattoo at the beginning.

Always use sunscreen when the design is exposed to the sun. This ensures that the colors stay livelier.

During the healing period, avoid very fatty foods (fried foods, chocolate, whipped cream and pork), seafood, Japanese food and peppers to avoid allergic reactions.

I got sick of my tattoo. Is it possible to remove it?

Today is possible remove tattoos through the laser. The treatment is done in several sessions, the number of which will depend on the size of the tattoo, the depth of the pigment in the skin and also the colors used in the designs.

The biggest difficulty erasing is the newer tattoos that feature a wider range of colors, including shades of pink, purple and fluorescent colors.

In such cases, to selectively destroy all tattoo colors you may need to use more than one type of laser, as each laser reaches a specific color range.

However, the treatment is not magic. Often not possible remove all tattoobecause deeper pigments persist leaving a shadow of what was the tattoo. In other cases, after complete removal, the treated skin becomes lighter than the surrounding skin, such as a whitish blemish, which may be transient or not.

Black comes out more easily, browns and reds are harder. So it is worth repeating: get a tattoo only if you are 101% sure!
