Endoscopic Facial Lifting

THE plastic surgery No doubt it has had a great evolution in the last decades. New surgeries emerged and many more were developed.
Improvement of surgical instruments, technology and knowledge of anatomy, along with the search for new techniques with less trauma, better recovery and smaller scars, resulted in less invasive surgeries.

Perhaps among all the changes, the most evident is in the face liftin the treatment of eyebrow drop and forehead wrinkles.
Commonly performed a few years ago through large cuts on the scalp, the front lifting today it can be made by small incisions, around 1cm, used only for the passage of instruments and fiber optics. The surgery is done by endoscopy, ie by viewing an image shown on a TV monitor, obtained by a microcamera inserted by the small incisions.

It is through this vision that the surgeon loosens his eyebrow, manipulates the wrinkle muscles and reposition all structures by pulling them upward. This results in a rejuvenation with minimal scarring.

Even more recent than the advance of frontal lifting (forehead and eyebrows) is the development of the endoscopic facial lifting from the malar region, better known as "cheekbones". Although little done among surgeons, the elevation of this region can also be done by a small scar located above the ear (temporal region). Through this incision, the tissues are loosened and pulled by stitches or strips of special toothed material that hold and pull the deep tissues upwards where they are attached. This technique can be performed alone or associated with lifting the cheek region and below the chin, where it is common to remove excess skin, with consequent scarring.

In patients with little sagging skin, but already feel the descent of the facial tissues and the deepening of the creases around the mouth (nasolabial fold), this technique alone is well indicated. For those in which excess skin is already a reality, membership as a full face lift is the best option.
Like all cosmetic surgery, the targeted result is always natural and harmonious, without exaggeration or distortion, simply seeking a repositioning of the tissues and thus a rejuvenation without the appearance of surgery.
