How to make an environmentally friendly cleaning kit for your home

Many types of cleaning products are currently available on the market: one for cleaning glass; another for sinks; Various options for cleaning and polishing furniture etc.

While cleaning the home is critical for all residents, it is worth noting that some cleaning products contain ingredients that may pose health risks. It's good to avoid them! In addition, buying one product for each order (one to clean the window, another for the sink, etc.) would result in more garbage being produced in your home (after all, you will need to discard the product containers), which is not good for the planet!

If you look closely, even the most modern cleaning products are based on ancient formulas that used natural ingredients and have been passed down through the generations precisely because they did their job well.

So why complicate? Using some natural ingredients, such as baking soda and lemon, for example, to aid in cleaning is a good way to avoid large investments in products, as well as protecting the health of the whole family.

It is worth learning how to assemble a basic, environmentally friendly, and very useful kit for your home:

1. Rubbing Mix

Place an average of ½ cup baking soda in a bowl and add enough liquid detergent to make the mixture homogeneous. Then just apply the mixture on a sponge, pass on the desired surface and then rinse with water.

It's a good recipe for cleaning tubs, for example!

To preserve the mixture and use it at other times, add 1 teaspoon of vegetable glycerin and store in a sealed glass jar to keep the product moist.

2. Window Cleaner

Use: ¼ or ½ teaspoon liquid detergent, 3 tbsp vinegar and 2 cups water. Put all the ingredients in a spray bottle, shake it and it is ready to use.

3. Oven Cleaner

Use: 1 cup or more of baking soda, water and a little liquid detergent (one or two applications).

Sprinkle water over the bottom of the oven, cover the dirt with baking soda. Sprinkle some more water over it. Leave the mixture there preferably over one night. After that, it will be much easier to clean the dirt, which is already "loose".

After removing the heaviest part of the dirt, apply some liquid detergent to a sponge and wash the remaining residue.

4. Cleaning Spray

Use: ½ teaspoon baking soda, some liquid soap and 2 cups of hot water.

Mix ingredients in a spray bottle and shake until baking soda dissolves. Apply to desired location and clean with a sponge or cloth.

The spray can be used for various purposes. It is economical and very useful.

5. Furniture polish

Use: ½ teaspoon of oil, such as olive oil; ¼ cup of vinegar or fresh lemon juice.

Mix the ingredients in a glass jar. Dampen a soft cloth in the solution and wipe the wood surfaces.

Cover the glass container to store the mixture.

6. Vinegar to disinfect

Put in a spray bottle some pure vinegar. Use to clean, for example, the cutting board. Apply and leave there for a few hours.

Pure vinegar is also a great option for cleaning the gaps between bathroom tiles. Just apply a little with the spray and, after a few hours, clean.

As for the strong smell of vinegar, don't worry: the aroma dissipates within a few hours.

7. Vinegar to fight mold

Put some white vinegar in a spray bottle. Splash over moldy area without rinsing. The aroma once again will dissipate in a few hours.

8. Toilet Mix

Use: 1 liter of water, 1 pinch of salt and 4 teaspoons (full) of baking soda. Mix everything in a spray bottle. Splash in place and let the mixture work for half an hour.

Did you like the tips? It's worth noting! With a few items you can create a variety of environmentally friendly and very useful cleaning materials in your daily life.
