How to protect your home from dengue

The hot days are back and with them, the Aedes aegypti mosquito, dengue transmitter. To prevent the disease from spreading, you need to keep an eye out and collaborate on simple measures that can make all the difference. Learn how to protect your home from dengue and what care to take.

The big problem with combating the dengue mosquito is that it can breed wherever water accumulates.

So beware of old tires, bottles, cans, glasses, pots, basins, pots and pots of plants or flowers, tanks, cisterns, water tanks, barrels, drums, roof gutters, channels, concrete blocks, cemetery urns, stumps and bamboos, tree holes and any other places that may have standing water.

A small puddle of water is enough for the Aedes aegypti outbreak to emerge. Also be careful with plants that accumulate water, such as bromeliads.

5 Tips To Protect Your Home From Dengue Mosquito

  1. Throw away any object that might accumulate water. Put trash in plastic bags and keep trash tightly closed;
  2. Do not leave accumulated rainwater on the slab. Also, remove leaves, twigs and any dirt that might prevent water from running down the gutters;
  3. The water tank must be kept completely closed. As well as packaging and containers, they should always be capped or face down. If they are large, the ideal is to protect with a waterproof tarpaulin and eliminate the puddles that form on it.
  4. If you have aquatic plants at least once a week you need to wash the pot mostly inside. Use soap, water and scrub well with a brush.
  5. Fill the plant pots with sand to the edge. If you have not put sand and the dish has accumulated water, wash well with soap and water.

Follow the recommendations and keep your home free from dengue mosquito and the risks that this disease can bring.
