Is exchanging sexy text messages cheating?

Men and women believe that erotic text messaging is as damaging to a relationship as betraying physical contact, according to research by the Huffington Post. In a poll of 1,000 US adults, 85 percent of women considered the nonphysical act dishonest, as did 74 percent of men.

However, the results revealed a gender difference in the "attitudes" aspect. This is because 70% of respondents considered that betrayal occurs, in fact, when there is an emotional involvement on the part of the partner with whom he exchanges sensual messages. 50% of men agreed on this point. Most men also did not consider kissing as adultery.

Older respondents were less tolerant when it came to their partner using social networking sites like Facebook or Twitter. 69% of people 65 and older said they would be upset if their spouse started talking to someone online, while only 52% of people aged 18-29 said the same.

60% of respondents said it was okay if their partners would kiss one day with someone else. Only 34% of them agreed.
