Marbled nails: learn how to do it step by step

Always aiming to know and apply new nail trends, we decided to try the marble effect nails.

Amid so many color options that can be used to make marble nails, we chose two colors that together were a design similar to a sweetie.

The materials you will need are: a plastic cup of water, nail polish, tape to protect your fingers and the material you normally use for nails, such as toothpick, cotton and acetone.

It is important to use new and creamy nail polish to make marble nails as this ensures the success of the application. We tested the technique with effect enamels and often used enamels and the result was not satisfactory.

To make marble nails, we follow the technique taught by Julia Petit in a video on her blog and adapted some parts: we did one nail at a time and with only 2 nail polish. Check out the step-by-step marbled nails we made here at Le Baragosse:

Step 1: Start by painting your nails

Paint your nails with the nail polish you have chosen as a base. Prefer an enamel that has good coverage with just one application.

Step 2: Now Glue Duct Tape

Cover the fingers and the sides of the fingers with tape, protecting them to make it easier to clean up the mess the marbled effect makes.

Step 3: Preparing the Mix

Take the glass with water and drip a drop of one of the chosen nail polishes. Then drip one drop of the other. It is important to drip the same amount of drops to make all nails, so they will look more similar.

Step 4: It's Marble Time

Gently put your finger in the water with the nail polish and let it dip. Blow the surface a little so that the top nail polish dries out and you can remove it by sticking it on the surface of the water.

Step 5: Finish with the Finish

After removing the enamel layer, remove your finger from the water and remove the tape. The next step is to clean the corners with nail polish remover. Repeat the process on all nails. Once that is done, wait a few minutes for the nail polish to dry well before applying a layer of extra gloss, otherwise you risk blurring the marble effect a bit.

You can also use a large pot and do all nails at once. When we try to do them all at once, we find it more difficult. Therefore, we prefer to do only one at a time. With each nail we make, we clean the glass and change the water so as not to tarnish the marble effect of the next nail.
