Visual techniques to show more maturity

In image consulting, I often work with people in their early career or in exchange, who need to change their look to suit different requirements and positions.

For some of them we need to build a more mature appearance, to demonstrate seriousness and experience, because when entering the job market or performing a new function is common to experience a certain insecurity, or even fear of not being able or not able to cope.

So there are some fashion tricks to look older and that we can use to show more visual experience, making the professional image more serious and mature.

1. Darker and deeper colors

The colors, as we mentioned in the previous article, have an irrefutable visual influence, and just as the bright and intense colors show more joy and youthfulness, the deeper and darker tones bring a certain weight to a person's image, making it appear more serious and even older than it really is.

The same goes for smooth parts. Adopt classic textures such as pied-de-poule or chevron.

2. Straightest modeling & structured fabrics

It was not for nothing that women adopted suits with heavyweight shoulder pads and more masculine modeling in the 80s. The female was wanting to match men in the job market and, for that, decided to make the image of women more masculine, demonstrating more strength and experience.

To this day, jambs (today we have the modern pagoda manga) and architectural or minimalist modeling have this power in looks to look older, as well as more structured fabrics (wool, linen, tweed), which create straighter lines in a woman's wavy biotypes.

3. Minimalism of Details

The less detail the look has, the more minimalist and serious it will be. So few or very discreet accessories are welcome when you want a more mature image (hello pearl ball, discreet watch and classic bag, preferably structured and without frufrus!).

Silk scarves are recommended, but of little print or dark colors. One-neck and short necklaces are the most used and the hair, always very well maintained, must be tied or very well tamed.

4. Allied Classics

The classic pieces will always be allied when it comes to? Calming down? the look and demonstrate experience and elegance.

Bet on timeless trousers (2 or 3 buttons or even double buttoning), angled collar shirts, cufflinks, flawless pants and straight skirts (knee skirt and 2 toes off the floor with the shoe!), Italian bars and overcoats.

Sunglasses and sunglasses should be minimalist (think discreet and Jackie O. style), as should watches, preferably with a leather strap or thin and discreet metal.

The thin-tipped scarpin has its glamor, always immaculate and impeccably polished. And let's not forget the famous pearl necklace immortalized by Coco Chanel, as well as any black & white coordination.

But of course, looks aren't everything, are they? As the famous proverb says, "empty bag doesn't stand up", that is, added to a good image there needs to be a lot of commitment, discretion and professionalism.

Thus, the image will be another tool in its favor, making it a person able to demonstrate its qualities and behave properly in the workplace.

Kisses and until next time.
