Advantages of Organic Food

Eating healthy is important to keep your health up to date. The first step is to include fruits, vegetables and vegetables prepared in a variety of ways. Consuming this type of food reorganizes the body's functions, which works better throughout the day, reducing health problems and the feeling of uneasiness caused by overeating.

However, nowadays finding healthy foods is not always an easy task. Unless you live in the countryside or have a garden in your backyard, you are very likely to consume pesticide-impregnated plant products that are so harmful to human health.

Pesticides, which are needed during large-scale planting and cultivation because they help control pests that may attack the crop, are used by most farmers to increase yields from each crop. These substances, in addition to impairing the organic functions of those who consume the food submitted to them, also harm the environment.

All of this is part of a range of information we still received in elementary school, in the first science classes. What few people know is that pesticides are also considered responsible for the occurrence of digestive diseases, some cancers, infertility, neurological and degenerative diseases, such as Parkinson's disease and even Alzheimer's.

According to a survey made by Anvisa the foods most contaminated by pesticides are peppers (92%), strawberry (64%), cucumber (58%), lettuce (54%), pineapple (33%), cabbage (32%). ), papaya (30%) and tomato (16%).

To escape this problem a good solution is to opt for the so-called "organic foods". Produced without the use of synthetic fertilizers, these foods are typically grown in balanced, nutrient-rich soils.

And the hydroponics?

Hydroponic foods are grown in greenhouses, and receive synthetic fertilizers diluted in water, especially nitrite. These fertilizers pollute water and increase the risk of cancer for those who consume vegetables.

Brazil has specific legislation to show consumers if the product they are taking home is really organic, popularly this law was known as the Organic Law. All real organic food carries a seal provided by the Ministry of Agriculture.

Make no mistake: not all food produced without pesticides is organic. If synthetic fertilizer is used on it, the seal cannot be used. In addition, a producer wishing to grow organic food must also follow various rules of respect for the environment and the workers involved in production.
