STDs: protection, risks and types of diseases

Although the number of young people and adults with internet access has increased significantly in recent years, the lack of information on sexually transmitted diseases is increasing the rates of public health problems caused by sex.

According to a survey conducted by one hundred percent of a specialist sexuality study, Kaplan, 37% of teens are unsure what the necessary ways to get the disease are. Therefore, gynecologist Amanda Kasimuri explains to readers of Le Baragosse and brings some ways for prevention.

For the gynecologist, the use of condoms in sex is fundamental for safe sex. The contraceptive method that has the protective power against sexually transmitted diseases is condoms. So it is necessary to use in all sexual relations ?, comments Amanda.

Types of diseases

Herpes

Characterized by the appearance of mini-blisters in the genital regions, herpes can intensify with stress, fever and even sun exposure. In contact with another partner, it is easily transmitted. "For those who acquired this disease, you need to ask the professional for guidance so that treatment can be done soon after diagnosis," suggests the gynecologist.

HPV

Known as acuminate condyloma, there are several types of HPV, one of which is responsible for cervical cancer. • The couple must have sex with both male and female condoms. Having a couple's medical follow-up regularly is also a form of prevention and respect between them ?, says Amanda.

Syphilis

Occurred by the bacterium Treponema pallidum, syphilis can manifest at various levels.

"As with all STDs, you need to have each partner have regular medical follow-up, as well as the use of barrier contraceptive methods," explains the gynecologist.

Urethritis

Pain during sexual intercourse, bleeding outside the menstrual period and intense discharge are characteristic symptoms of this type of disease. "The most effective treatments are through antibiotics prescribed by the doctor," says Amanda.

AIDS

Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome is currently incurable and directly affects the defense cells of the human body. • AIDS can be acquired through unprotected sex or from contamination of syringes or contaminated laboratory materials. Therefore, it is necessary to increase attention when diagnostic tests are performed and use female and male contraceptive methods during intercourse ?, suggests the gynecologist.
