Enzymes for beauty

Enzymes are proteins naturally found in the body of all living things. In our bodies, they are essential for a wide variety of chemical reactions that occur in the body, such as digestion, muscle contractions and nutrient assimilation.

Some natural enzymes and others in synthetic versions are used in nutrition to treat problems such as intolerance to certain types of food and digestion difficulties. In addition to providing health benefits, enzymes are also useful in the field of beauty.

These substances are part of the composition of cosmetics and are also used in aesthetic procedures, such as mesotherapy.

Discover now some of the uses of enzymes and know what benefits they can bring to your beauty.

1. Reduction of measures

Mesotherapy is a technique in which enzyme injections are applied to provide the reduction of measures. The composition of injectables used in mesotherapy has lipolytic action, ie, breaks down fat cells, which are absorbed by the body or eliminated by urine, feces and sweat.

The procedure is effective for ending the breeches, improving the flank contour and removing fat located on the abdomen, waist, thighs and back. Importantly, the use of injectable enzymes is not indicated for weight loss, only to favor the loss of centimeters.

As this is an invasive procedure, it should only be done by a doctor. The number of sessions varies by case, but applications can be done once or twice a week. Usually, the results appear from the second session.

Although enzyme injections work on their own, it is interesting to have a balanced diet and combine mesotherapy with lymphatic drainage sessions to enhance treatment.

2. Face and body

In recent years, the cosmetic industry has incorporated enzymes into skin care product formulations to enhance results. There are currently two types of creams: those that act on the skin through the enzymes of the formulation and those with agents that stimulate the enzymes already present in the skin. Enzyme creams accelerate the natural process of skin tissue regeneration and can be used by all skin types.

There are also enzymatic peels, which are applied in aesthetic clinics. The most common are based on papain, a substance that comes from papaya, or bromelain, pineapple. Enzyme peels treat the skin by favoring the penetration of cream and treatment ingredients. They have the advantage of being less aggressive than acid peels and can therefore be made even on sensitive skin.
