What is the function of gelatin in hair?

Gelatin is a collagen-containing ingredient, a protein with structural function that is present in our skin and in our hair. When collagen production decreases, the skin begins to show wrinkles and sagging, while hair becomes thinner and more brittle.

When we eat gelatin as food, collagen is degraded by the digestive system and cannot reach the hair. However, when gelatin is applied directly to the hair, collagen molecules can envelop the hair, keeping it hydrated and protected longer.

In this way, the gelatin forms a film around the strands and reduces the aggressions suffered by them, leaving them stronger and fuller.

Why does hair get thin?

In women, the main reasons for thinning hair are external aggressions and hormonal changes.

In the case of external aggressions, we can mention the damage caused by ultraviolet radiation, the application of very strong chemicals such as bleach, dyes and straighteners, and the constant use of dryer and flat iron.

To prevent this damage, a routine hair care routine is required, investing in hydration, nutrition and hair reconstruction to replenish lost nutrients.

Regarding hormonal changes, hair thinning can be caused by a condition called androgenic alopecia. This problem consists of an excess of male hormone in the female body, which can lead to hair loss (even baldness) and thinning of the hair.

This is a situation that needs medical evaluation to be properly diagnosed and treated. In this case, the power of the mask to thicken the hair will unfortunately not be sufficient to reverse the situation.
