Required Material

  • 250 grams of baking soda
  • Fabric brush
  • Vacuum Cleaner
  • Essential oil (optional)

How to make

After removing the sheets, try to move the mattress to a place where you have room to move around. Ideally, you can leave it on a balcony to sunbathe.

Sprinkle baking soda over the surface of the mattress and let it sit for 35 to 40 minutes. After this time, use the brush to scrub the mattress, especially over the stains. Wait another 10 to 15 minutes and vacuum the entire surface, removing the baking soda and dirt that will adhere to it. Repeat the procedure on the other side of the mattress.

If you want, take a few drops of essential oil and have a scented mattress? Lavender and chamomile are good options to help you fall asleep.

How to turn the mattress

In addition to this baking soda cleaning, there are other things to look after with the mattress. One is the swivel, which we mentioned above, which is important for conserving the shape of the mattress.

This technique consists of rotating the mattress in two ways: the first is to change the position of the feet and head and the second is to place the surface that is in contact with the platform to the upper side.

Both movements of the gyrus should be done alternately every three months. For example, if in January you change the position of your feet and head, in April you will have to change the side of the mattress that is up. In July you will change your feet and head again, and in November you will change the upside again.

Take advantage of these moments to observe the state of the platform. When wood slats crack or break, the mattress support becomes poor, which contributes to wear on the part and can cause problems with the spine.

By the way, one more tip to finish: When buying a new mattress, always make sure that the characteristics of the model are the most appropriate for your physical constitution, avoiding back pain.
