Lymphatic drainage

Lymphatic drainage, also known as lymphatic massage, is a technique that attempts to assist the body in a natural process to eliminate toxins from metabolism work and drain the fluids that must be eliminated. It is applied with rhythmic and light pressure movements to stimulate the lymphatic system to work at a faster pace.

The lymphatic system is responsible for regulating the immune system, filtering the blood and removing toxins that can harm the body and cause disease. When this system slows down or some blockage occurs, the body tends to accumulate toxins.

Contrary to popular belief, lymphatic drainage does not have to hurt or leave bruises to work. The idea is that it is soft and even relaxing.

The discomfort can happen if any massaged region is more sensitive to inflammation, fluid accumulation or recent surgery scars. If purple spots appear after the massage sessions, it is a sign that the movements were very aggressive and there was a rupture of vessels.

Who can do lymphatic drainage?

The main indication of lymphatic drainage is for those who want to soften cellulite, before and after plastic surgery, also serves for varicose veins, tired legs, premenstrual tension and relief of muscle pain. Massage can be performed alone or in combination with other treatments.

What are the benefits of lymphatic massage?

The benefits of lymphatic drainage, given by improved circulation and the elimination of toxins, help to prevent various health problems. In addition to helping clear blockages and stimulating drainage of trapped fluids between cells, lymphatic drainage can also improve metabolism, favoring the burning of body fat stores.

Massage stimulates the immune system needed to keep the body strong and healthy and alleviates the negative effects of malfunctioning lymphatic system such as joint pains, headaches, menstrual cramps, acne, respiratory ailments and even depression.

Lymphatic massage can also combat cellulite. Whether due to poor diet, physical inactivity, cigarette smoking, hormonal changes, cellulite begins with a process of fluid retention that causes poor oxygenation of tissues. The technique avoids cellulite precisely by eliminating excess fluid and toxins.

Properly applied, massage decreases fluid retention in the abdomen, thighs and breeches, areas of the body most prone to fat accumulation. Therefore, another benefit of lymphatic massage is to help reduce a few inches in silhouette.

The recommendation is to have at least ten sessions to get some effective result, but already in the first session you can see a visible improvement of the swelling.
