Perfect body: does it really exist?

If you had, at this very moment, the power to draw your own physical forms, which body type would you choose: thick legs, butt and big breasts? Or for a leaner, without so many curves? After all, what is the "perfect body" that so many women are looking for today ?!

Some people would certainly choose the first option; others would have no doubt in deciding for the second. But the differing views would serve to show that there is no single standard of beauty that appeals to Greeks and Trojans, but different points of view.

However, it is also a fact that, nowadays, much is said about? Conquering a perfect body? and this idea has been a constant concern between men and women.


Psychologist Luciana Kotaka, an expert on Obesity and Eating Disorders and coauthor of the book Slim Behavior with Health and Pleasure and Slim Stomach versus Fat Thinking, explains that? The conquest of the perfect body? It has been a dream for many people as it represents health, power, status, increases self-esteem and also gives a false sense of happiness. "People are very dissatisfied with their body, so they focus on physical activity and diets as a way to achieve that goal," he says.

Also according to the professional, this concern is growing more and more due to the disclosure of slim and / or strong body as a synonym for beauty. "This is a problem that we have been facing for some time and that does not seem to change anytime soon, despite campaigns such as Dove, showing the real beauty of women, among other companies with the same focus," he explains.

How healthy is it?

It is common knowledge that investing in good nutrition and physical activity is fundamental to ensure better health and quality of life. But when does one's sole goal become to conquer a body? considered by the majority? Perfectly, the union of these two factors can go the other way.


This is because many people end up making big restrictions on their menu and / or sticking to fad diets without worrying about their health. Some bet on using supplements without even consulting a professional; while others even have the help of medicines to reach their goals.

In this sense, the question remains: to what extent the search for the? Perfect body? It's healthy?

Luciana Kotaka points out that the healthy is the balance, always. "We can choose to have a healthy diet, practice physical activities, but in a balanced way to seek health," he explains.


The psychologist adds that the search for the? Perfect body? It starts to become negative when the person's focus is just this: they only think about working out, looking for readings on the subject and everything revolves around resources to reach the beautiful body.

Regarding food, Luciana points out that there is orthorexia, which is a pathology resulting from radicalism in search of healthy eating. It happens when the person becomes obsessive about the quality of the food he consumes, and may even have a picture of malnutrition.

This obsession with food choice, over time, increases the list of foods avoided until she eats any food that is not strictly chosen, which is not known the origin or that she herself cultivates? "Everything that people will consume is measured and evaluated, the calories, nutrients, vitamins, because they obsessively think about what they will eat all the time," he adds.

Harm

In addition to the pathology mentioned above, the excessive search for a body considered perfect can trigger serious health problems, not to mention other eating disorders, which require difficult and multidisciplinary treatments.

But the risks don't stop there. Luciana Kotaka points out that this concern to achieve a perfect body can generate a series of situations that end up complicating the life of the person concerned, their family and social life. • It can generate stress and even withdrawal from social life. Normally, when the person focuses only on this search, he or she ally with people with the same goal, which makes this coexistence even more difficult. This is because the focus is only to be beautiful and then lose interest in other situations, he explains.

Acceptance

Thus, it is clear that the excessive concern to achieve a perfect body can generate several problems to the health and social life of the person in question. Besides, is it just an illusory idea, since it doesn't exist? and will never exist? a single body type considered ideal.And beauty, too, is a matter of opinion.

It is essential, yes, that the person follows a healthy diet and engages in physical activities, but seeking, first, benefits to their health.

It is also important that she feels good about her body, about her appearance. But for that to happen, she must never forget that she is a unique person with her own characteristics, which makes any comparison with other people's physical forms useless and meaningless.
