Research points out that happiness makes you fat

A study published last month found that if you are the type of person who lets your mood affect your diet? about 75% of us women? You are likely to eat more calories when you are happy than when you are down.

In experiments conducted by psychologists at the University of Maastricht in the Netherlands, 87 students were shown movie clips or TV shows in order to arouse a positive, neutral or bad state of mind.

To be in a state of happiness, the students watched the programs? Mr Bean? and "When Harry Met Sally". To be in a neutral mood, they were shown a fishing documentary. And to the negative mood, the students watched a clip from the movie "The Green Mile" when John, an innocent prisoner, is executed.


After viewing the clips, students were offered chips and chocolates, and then the researchers measured their calorie intake after each scene.

Students rated as? Emotional eaters? through psychological testing, they pinched the goodies more after watching the happy videos than the negative ones.

The researchers concluded: These findings may be of great value for treating obesity. They stress the importance of positive emotions about excesses, which are often overlooked.
