Study proves Facebook can destroy relationships

The University of Missouri (USA) research conducted by Dr. Russell Clayton involved people ages 18 to 82 to investigate how much they use Facebook and how often they have had fights with their partners for social networking reasons. According to the researcher, "previous research has shown that the more people use social networking, the more likely they are to feel jealous."

According to the study, people who use Facebook a lot risk reconnecting with people in previous relationships, which can lead to physical or emotional betrayal. In addition, couples just starting out suffer more from the effects of Facebook, while couples with mature and solid relationships are no longer shaken by the jealousy of overuse of the network.

Dr. Russell's advice to couples is to use social networking sparingly and to avoid virtually watching over the partner.
