Thick Hair Care

Our genetic code is what defines if we will have thin or thick hair. However, this structure may change over the years due to the natural loss of nutrients and also by chemical aggressions, such as the use of coloring and procedures such as straightening, relaxation, among others. Like fine hair, thicker hair calls for specific care and products, so they look healthy and look flawless.

The thick strands can be smooth, wavy, curly. The most common complaint for those with this type of hair is that the combination of coarse hair with a wavy or curly structure is usually synonymous with volume and more labor to take care of.

The solution to this type of texture is to use products that offer control and hydration. This is even more important for those who have curly hair, which tends to dry out more, as the natural oiliness of the root makes it harder to reach the ends.

Leave-in cream or serum is indispensable. Moisturizing masks can be applied every 15 days. Another alternative to taming yarns is the application of waxes, ointments and shapers in general.

As for cutting, forget the myth that only long straight hair decreases volume. The best cuts for thick hair are the peaked ones and those with asymmetrical wires. That is, cuts with the ends disconnected make the locks softer and lighter. Thus, the whole hair gains more movement.

For those who have smooth and thick wires, asymmetrical and disconnected cuts gain a differential with the side fringes, which give more grace to the face. Another type of cut suitable for this type of hair is layered and frayed ends.

In addition to choosing a good cut and careful cleaning and moisturizing the wires, using the right brush can do real miracles. It is a determining item to maintain the integrity and beauty of hair.

In the case of thick hair, it is best to use large diameter bristles with spaced bristles so that they can pass between the hair, touch the scalp and detangle the hair from the root. At thick wire brushes they should preferably have good quality natural or artificial bristles.
