Black Makeup: The Smoky Dark Women's Darling

Every woman who loves makeup knows that the very dark smoky eye with black eyeshadow is a wild card when it comes to options for party makeup, ballad and other nightly events.

But why is black makeup so loved by make-up fans? The smokey black eye is darling of women because it is a makeup that suits almost everything. As the lipstick normally used is a neutral shade and the smoky one is the black color that blends easily with other shades, the choice of clothing and accessories is much freer.

For example, if you wear an orange dress as a bridesmaid, the makeup needs to be more neutral to balance the bright tone of the outfit. If you wear a red lipstick, the look will be very loaded and disharmonious. With a dress of this color, a soft dark smoky in shades of brown, opaque gray or black with nude lipstick is the best option to wear.

As such, many people have become adept at black make-up due to its versatility. And while it is relatively easy to do, it is necessary to follow some tips so that the smudge is not blurred and not too marked. The watchword in this case is naturalness. The smoother the smoky the better. Check out the following tutorial how to do this makeup step by step and practice to learn.

Walkthrough: How to Make a Black Makeup

Part 1: Black Eye Makeup

To avoid smudging makeup, start the process through the eye. First do the eye makeup step by step and then do the skin preparation.

  1. If the eyelid is already based, the next step is to apply a shadow fixer (shadow primer) only to the moving eyelid;
  2. With a eyeshadow brush, apply a brown eye shadow across the movable eyelid just above the concave, smudging to be very soft;
  3. Then apply the black eyeshadow over the brown eyeshadow, only on the movable eyelid and smudge to pass some of the concave. But remember: don't let the black shadow go beyond the space of the brown one, as this will ensure a smooth gradient;
  4. Make the black outline in the eye to give the finish. Use a gel eyeliner if you do not have much practice as it is easier to apply;
  5. That done, apply eyeliner to the lower lashes to the middle of the eye. Do not get close to the nose. This will make it softer and more natural. Smudge the black pencil using a thin smudge brush;
  6. Then just apply the mascara of your choice and / or put false eyelashes.

When you are done with eye makeup, proceed with the rest of the makeup: skin preparation.

Part 2: Skin Preparation

As this makeup is usually done with opaque shade and lipstick, it is suggested to prepare the skin using products that make it look bright, healthy and hydrated. See how:

  1. Remove makeup residue with a good make-up remover and astringent tonic, then moisturize your face with a specific product for your skin type (oily, mixed or dry);
  2. Apply a base primer on the T zone (forehead, nose and chin) or all over the face if you prefer;
  3. Using a synthetic bristle base brush, apply the foundation of your choice to the entire face, including the movable eyelid and mouth;
  4. Apply blush or bronzer to cheekbones gently and then apply face powder all over the face using a very chubby brush of natural bristles;
  5. With a cotton swab, wipe your eyebrows to remove any foundation or dust that may have fallen on them. Correct the eyebrow stroke and flaws with a pencil for this purpose;
  6. Choose a neutral lipstick (nude, gloss or light pink) and apply to the lips with the aid of a mouth brush;
  7. To finish the skin by giving a shine to the face, apply illuminator powder above the blush, between the upper lip and nose and below the eyebrow.

The following video, made by Vogue beauty publisher Vic Ceridono, shows tips on how to apply the illuminator and provides some product suggestions.

How to prevent the black eyeshadow smudge the makeup?

There are three very common ways to prevent the black eyeshadow from creating smudges on your makeup, leaving you with the dreaded dark circles. Check out:

Option 1: Do all the eye makeup first and only prepare and apply the makeup on the skin after you have finished eye makeup. So if dust drops from the shadow, just remove and start preparing the skin.

Option 2: After preparing the skin, apply a very generous layer of face powder below the eyes (dark circles region). Then do eye makeup and then remove any eye shadow that falls below the eyes using a sponge brush with a very light motion so as not to smudge.

Option 3: When applying dark shadows, hold a paper just below the lashes so that the dust that falls from the shadow is deposited on the paper and does not stain your skin.

The easiest option to go wrong is to try to remove the blur with concealer. This can create a grayish spot on the region and leave you with dark circles. Avoid this technique. It is best to prevent the dust from falling by using any of the above.

What lipstick colors match the black makeup?

When you carry eye makeup, whether with black eyeshadow or other dark colors, the ideal is to bet on light and neutral colors on the lips. Shades such as nude and light pink are a favorite of black smoky eye fans.

Blogger Cinthya Rachel often wears MAC Hug me lipsticks, Marina lipstick for Tracta, and Cinthya Rachel lipstick for Tracta when she smears black eyes. Beauty blogger Marina Smith on blog 2beauty is also a fan of MAC's Hug Me lipstick.

Bruna Tavares, Pause for Feminices blogger, recommends MAC's Kinda Sexy and Faux lipsticks and Sabrina lipstick from her Tracta collection for dark eye makeup. Remember that another idea is to apply nude lipstick and finish with a gloss if you prefer to give a touch of gloss on the lips, especially if you have opted for opaque products in the rest of the makeup.
