Cinnamon: 12 uses that go beyond spice

You have probably used cinnamon to flavor and aroma any dish or drink in your home. Whether in stick or powder, it can be added to a wide variety of foods: yogurts, iced coffees and teas, fruit shakes, wines and more.

You may also have heard about the thermogenic properties of cinnamon, which is great news for those who follow a healthy diet and exercise! After all, it is not a bad idea to add a little cinnamon powder to the banana or apple, for example.

But that is all so little. Cinnamon can be much more useful in your home (and in your life!) Than you might think. Check out other amazing uses and more benefits of cinnamon:

1. Bulky Lips

Don't you have to opt for any surgical or aesthetic procedure to achieve beautiful and full lips? in the best Angelina Jolie style. Simply mix one teaspoon of ground cinnamon with a lip product of your choice (cocoa butter, petroleum jelly, etc.). Apply the mixture to your lips and wait a few minutes. Your lips will probably start to tingle (if this sensation is too bad for you, do not repeat the procedure). Then remove the mixture with water.

2. Anti-acne Face Mask

Mix three tablespoons of honey and one teaspoon of cinnamon. Apply on your face and leave for about ten minutes. Then wash thoroughly with water and dry.

3. Hair Growth Treatment

Hair loss is always a bad experience no matter the cause. But the good news is that cinnamon can help too! One way to stimulate growth is to wear a homemade cinnamon mask weekly. (But before betting on this idea, make sure your doctor can try this alternative, especially if you have a sensitive scalp).

Mix two tablespoons of cinnamon and honey in half a cup of hot olive oil. Add an egg to thicken the mask. Apply the solution to wet hair and let it work for 10 or 15 minutes. Then wash well with shampoo.

4. Fighting bad breath

Put five cinnamon sticks in the water (one cup) and bring to a boil. You will have a great homemade mouthwash!

5. Exfoliate the skin

To remove dead skin cells and restore their shine and softness, make a mixture of sea salt, almond oil, olive oil, honey and cinnamon powder. Pass over the skin, let it act for a few seconds and then rinse.

6. Fragrance for the house

Boil apple cider with a cinnamon stick and some cloves and get a great fragrance for your home.

7. Repel Moths

A handful of cinnamon sticks works great for repelling moths. It's worth having at home and putting in strategic points!

8. Ornaments

Use five or six wooden shins and tie them with a simple ribbon to decorate your kitchen, barbecue area or porch, for example. Or, use this idea at Christmas time and tie the shins with a beautiful Christmas-themed bow.

9. Finish the ants

Cinnamon can help you get rid of the ants that are walking around your house. Sprinkle some ground cinnamon on the paths formed by them.

10. Reduce Blood Sugar

You have good reason to include cinnamon in your diet. Seasoning a high sugar food with it helps lessen the impact of this substance.

11. Treatment of colds and flu

Cinnamon is a great ally of our health. Is it even excellent in treating colds and flu, especially if it is consumed in tea form? which relieves the symptoms of the disease as it warms the body and expels the infectious agent through the pores. A tip is to add ginger in the preparation to enhance this property.

12. Improve Cholesterol

Many doctors recommend consuming half a tablespoon of cinnamon a day, as it plays an important role in fighting cholesterol. The antioxidants in the spice help eliminate some of the bad fat we eat faster, which helps to keep cholesterol levels from rising.

Now you have great reasons to have a bag of cinnamon powder or cinnamon stick always at hand! In addition to making the food tastier, the spice is good for health and has many uses at home.
