How to take care of your mattress

Choosing the right mattress is essential for good sleep and recharging. Mattress density is the first criterion to be evaluated before purchase as it indicates the strength of the product taking into account the weight of each person.

However, a lower density does not want the mattress to be stiffer or a higher density means a softer mattress. There are tables that indicate which density is best for your body, just consult the stores. As for double mattresses, it is right to buy the mattress in the density compatible with the heaviest person.

The mattress should be comfortable, the spine aligned and the muscles relaxed. And how to know which one is ideal? Just testing multiple models before making the choice. Ask to lie down for a few minutes and if you like, take it.

A good mattress can last anywhere from 7 to 10 years, but it doesn't just depend on the quality of the product. Some mattress care is essential so that you can prolong the use of the product and ensure good sleep longer.

Most manufacturers already use anti-allergy and anti-mold fabrics to cover the mattresses. In any case, it is advisable to remove all bedding, vacuum and leave it exposed for a few hours with the bedroom windows open whenever possible.

Moisture is a big enemy of mattresses. Therefore, do not line the bed frame with cardboard, newspaper, plastic or any other material that may retain moisture.

Always use a mattress protector to better preserve the lining and prevent moisture from perspiration or other liquids from reaching its structure or causing stains.

If stains appear, use detergent and a soft sponge for cleaning. Allow the mattress to dry well to cover it with the sheet.

In addition, it is important to reverse the position of the mattress every four months to prevent deformation. The best way to do this is by turning the head side to the foot of the bed. Consider the manufacturer's stated shelf life, but if you notice signs of wear and tear, such as surface deformations or touch-sensitive springs, it's time to change mattresses.

Remember that choosing a mattress that suits your needs is essential to having a good night's sleep. The consequences of a sleepless night go beyond sleepiness the next day. When you sleep less than you need, brain activity slows and functions such as attention, creativity, balance, and memory are compromised. Not to mention the humor, which gets terrible.
