Is it swollen? Dietitian points out 6 non-obvious reasons that cause bloating

Having a bulging belly, rounder face, swollen feet and hands may not mean excess fat but increased fluid retention.

A basic tip to avoid the problem is to drink lots of water and reduce salt intake. But this is not enough. It is important to pay attention to other food items and to watch your body function.

Functional nutritionist Fernanda Scheer listed some factors that may be behind constant bloating. See what they are and better understand how each of them affects the body:

1. Digestion

You may be having difficulty digesting some foods and probably do not know it. Even healthy foods such as eggs and nuts can be the cause of bloating. Having a medical checkup is the best way to find out which foods are inflammatory to your body and then eliminate them from the menu.

2. Carbohydrates

Excessive carbohydrate consumption is bad because it stimulates the hormone insulin, which is also responsible for controlling water and sodium in the kidneys. Therefore, excessive intake of carbohydrate-rich foods eventually leads to chronic body swelling.

3. Toxins

Pesticides and artificial substances such as dyes, sweeteners and toxic metals, are toxins that are present in numerous foods that are commonly consumed on a daily basis. This causes the body to feel overwhelmed and thus the body swells up to try to dilute whatever has been ingested.

4. Hormones

Having a hormonal balance is critical to maintaining good health. Already hormonal fluctuations can be harmful. Looking for a doctor who works with an integrative vision is important for your hormonal health to be analyzed and everything resolved in the best way.

5. Supplements

Sports supplements such as whey, bcaa, pre-training, among others, may be helpful in some cases. But when they are overused or even unnecessary, they can be sources of toxins and dyes that cause the body to accumulate fluids, leading to swelling.

6. Alcohol

If you've been drinking too much, even if you only do it on weekends, could this be one of the reasons your body never detaches? it will depend, of course, on the amount consumed.

All these factors cited by the nutritionist can influence the swelling of the body. It is therefore important to observe how you behave towards each of them in order to find out what is hurting you and eliminate it from your life.
