Strobing: How to Make a Makeup with Illuminated Mega Skin

Makeup is a great ally of women in everyday life and on special occasions. With the evolution of the cosmetics market and the democratization of makeup, new techniques and products constantly appear to highlight or hide some specific parts of the face.

One of these new techniques is called Strobing, and according to makeup artist Duda Molinos, the technique is to lighten the convex points of the face. Thus, illuminators are essential products for the application of this technique.

Strobing is commonly confused with the technique called "contour", which was popularized by celebrity Kim Kardashian. The focus of the contour is the application of products such as concealers or bases with shades darker than the skin at specific angles of the face. This application has the function of thinning or highlighting some parts of the face.

Duda Molinos adds that the two techniques complement each other and explains: “Keeping in mind that bright and light colors zoom in and out, and dark colors shrink and zoom out, with this basic principle of light and dark we will realize that contours will work best on the concave parts of the face?.

How to Strobing Step by Step

Strobing is a more affordable technique than contouring because it is easier to apply and requires fewer products. Being the illuminator the protagonist of this technique, Duda warns that it is used sparingly, so that there is no concentration and excess brightness. The makeup artist also indicates the parts that should be illuminated: "High apple, center of the forehead, point of the chin and the front base of the nose".

Check out below five steps that indicate the steps to follow and the products to use to have your makeup lightened, which can be adapted for everyday or evening events:

1. Start applying the products by primer, to conserve makeup for more hours. If your skin is dry, this step can be replaced by a facial moisturizer.

2. Apply the foundation of your choice and then use concealer to hide dark circles and possible imperfections.

3. If the skin is oily, deposit compact powder in the areas that concentrate the most oiliness, such as the "T" zone, for example.

4. Apply the illuminator of your choice, which may be powder or liquid, at the points shown in the figure above. For a lighter effect, apply the product with a brush, for a heavier effect the product can be applied with your fingers.

5. Blush just below the region highlighted by the illuminator.

Eye region makeup can be applied as per your custom before or after skin preparation. Remembering that due to the application of the illuminator on the upper lip region, it is indicated that the lipstick is the last item to be applied.
