Hairdresser transforms look of client with deep depression

Illnesses of the mind, such as depression, anxiety, and bipolarity, are becoming more prominent in the media, and our awareness of them is increasing day by day.

Today, science knows that mental illness does not depend on one's will and is as true as physical illness, although this concept is not yet widespread among the lay population.

Sometimes some people are unable to recognize the symptoms of a psychic illness and end up attributing misjudgments to patients, considering them lazy or thinking they just want to get attention.

Fortunately, this was not the case with Kate Langman, a hairdresser at a Wisconsin salon who recognized signs of depression in a client and provided valuable moments for her, reported on Kate's Facebook.

Six months without getting out of bed

The story of empathy began when Kate noticed a client who came into the salon and began looking at all the hair products on the shelf. The hairdresser decided to approach the client to see if she needed help.

The two started talking and Kate soon learned that the client suffered from deep depression? so much so that she had spent six months in bed because of her illness. One consequence of this was that the woman totally neglected her hair care by failing to wash and comb her hair.

She had made a bun with the threads and over time it became a big knot. "It looked like she had a rock in the back of her head," Kate wrote in her Facebook post.

Upon learning of the client's story, did Kate offer to straighten her hair, making an appointment for the next day? After all, she knew the woman would spend hundreds of dollars on so many products and they wouldn't have the desired effect. The other day, however, the woman did not appear. Two weeks later, did the customer call to make a new appointment? and she missed again. “I was heartbroken. Did I really want to help you? Kate said.

Fortunately, about a month later, the client returned to the salon and asked if Kate could fix her hair that very day, when she had finally managed to get out of bed again. The hairdresser accepted.

Eight and a half hours of work

“I didn't care if I would work late. I wanted to make sure she was coming cared for? Kate wrote in her post. The first solution usually offered for this client would simply be to cut her hair very short, but the woman said she would like to keep it long if it were possible.

Even though the task did not seem easy, Kate decided to face it and worked for eight and a half hours on this client's hair: 4 and a half hours to wash and untangle, 3 hours to color and half an hour to cut. The result was untangled threads, hydrated and with a beautiful reddish-pink shoulder.

"When I was done, I could see the twinkle in her eyes and also see her cheeks turn pink from the joy of not only being able to run her fingers through her hair but also feeling herself again," said the hairdresser. “I changed someone's life today. And I will never forget that. I LOVE MY PROFESSION !?, Kate completed.

The client, in turn, shared the hairdresser's post on her own profile and thanked her for giving her the courage she needed to try and change her life. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. You saved me and helped me back from the edge of the cliff where I was. Will you always have my gratitude? She wrote.
