With an outrageously thin waist to its long legs, the world's most famous doll has been the target of criticism from feminists and other women's groups. They claim that Barbie promotes an unhealthy idea of the girls' image of her body.
Several artists have created versions of the doll to substantiate the public's statement, leaving it in more humane forms to reveal their unrealistic measures of the average human girl.
But now, in a role reversal, an artist has created a Barbie that would look like the average 19-year-old girl, and the results are amazing.
This artist is Nickolay Lamm, a researcher from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, who used the measurements of an average 19-year-old woman to create a 3-D model, which he photographed next to a standard Barbie doll.
Because of her too-thin measurements, it is estimated that if Barbie existed as a human being, it would fit the anorexia weight criteria. People argue that a toy can do no harm. However, if we criticize very thin models, should we at least be open to the possibility that Barbie may negatively influence girls as well ?, the researcher pointed out.
