What foods do Brazilians eat the most?

Rice, beans and coffee are common items on the table of Brazilians. The Household Budget Survey (POF), presented by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) on Thursday, 28, in Rio de Janeiro, shows that these are the products most consumed daily by the population. According to the survey, respondents consume, on average, per day, more than 182g of beans, 160g of rice and 215 ml of coffee. "Brazilians drink six to seven cups of coffee a day," according to André Martins, a researcher at the institute.

Among the Brazilian favorite items, bread and beef are also included, having been consumed by 63% and 48.7% of respondents, respectively on the first and second day of research.

The portion that consumes the most rice is that of the population of the Midwest. The Southeast leads the consumption of beans, with 218.1g per capita. In the south of the country, potato and yogurt are preferences.

IBGE research also pointed out that it is characteristic of the northerner to prepare milk-based foods. In addition, fresh fish and their preparations are also among their popular preferences. The population of the Northern Region consumes daily average portions of 95g of fresh fish. Acai, consumed on average the equivalent of 28.4g daily is also part of the food that the northerner appreciates.
