The different types of massage

Massage is a therapy involves the use of hands in the application of specific techniques of pressing, rubbing and manipulate the muscles and tissues of the body in many ways from the deepest to the most superficial layers.

The main purposes of massage are to aid in the treatment of disease, improvement of tissue and muscle functionality and relaxation and well-being. Massages can be done on specific chairs and tables for this purpose or on a mat on the floor, preferably in a comfortable, airy and well lit place for better use of the massage.

Swedish massage: In Brazil this type of massage is also known as classical massage and is the most common type of massage. The Swedish massage is relaxing and gentle, the movements are circular, long and gentle.

Aromatherapy & Massage: This technique consists of adding aromatherapy to therapeutic massages. Aromatherapy is the use of essential oils to stimulate the brain through smell, causing different sensations throughout the body.

Hot Stone Therapy: Hot and cold stones are used for massage in this therapy depending on the needs of each one. The stones are placed along the muscles, which undergo the action of the term therapy. This one massage type It aims to combine the energy of the body and the stones, producing the synergy of the organic and physiological functions.

Deep Tissue Massage: It is a therapeutic massage that works the reorganization of tissues in the deepest layers, muscles and connective tissues. The movements are similar to those of Swedish massage, but are concentrated in the areas of greatest tension. They are indicated for chronic and very acute muscle pain, for those who have postural problems and dislocations.

Other types of massages that are among the main ones are shiatsu, Thai massage, pregnant women massage, reflexology, sports massage and relaxing back massage.
