Useful recycling ideas for home decorating

Two behavioral profiles regarding household objects are quite common: people who keep objects useless or those who keep functional environments, but always buy everything new, wasting materials.

Reuse is one of the most widespread concepts among sustainability advocates, but the great difficulty lies in coming up with ideas that are really useful and make these two groups want to invest a little time in creating an environmentally friendly, functional and beautiful decoration.

Useful reuse

PET bottles are very interesting to be reused. One possibility is to create a vertical garden where you can grow vegetables and spices for later use in recipes.

To make a vertical PET bottle garden you need to place the bottles horizontally and cut a rectangular opening in their center. Then drill holes in the sides and thread a clothesline, tying a knot after each bottle. Also drill holes in the underside of the bottles so that when the plants are watered, the water runs out. With the bottles properly attached and aligned, just put the soil, the seed and take care that the plants grow healthy.

Another great item to work with are bottle caps, these, as well as the keys on a broken computer keyboard, with a magnet taped to the back turn into beautiful fridge magnets.

If you have old objects that have no use, because they do not work, but it is important for you to keep them as a souvenir, do not hesitate to transform them, they will remain in your home, only now useful in your day to day.

Cassette boxes, for example, can be used as business card holders. Old vinyls can turn authentic-looking wall clocks by adding only the hands and mechanism of another clock. Floppy disks can have their corners tied into a box. Plastic CD holders can be used to store and organize cables. CDs can be used as a hanger separator in the closet rod.

Who doesn't want to have any work transforming an object can simply think of assigning it a new function? called Upcycling.

Icing or cupcake pans, for example, can become jewelry organizers, as well as a grater can be an earring with its holes being used to hang hook earrings. Bottles can be used as a bracelet holder and an angel as a necklace hanger.

In the office, popsicle shapes can be used as a holder and the center of the toilet roll can be an excellent wire organizer. A wooden kitchen cutting board can become a note board if written in chalk; and a drawer a shelf.

To have a sustainable home that properly reuses objects, you just have to look at the things you have that aren't in use and be creative to make them something that contributes to the organization and aesthetics of the environment. Try and enjoy your home with a new decoration at no cost.
