9 mistakes we made when washing our clothes

Clothes are fundamental items in our daily lives. And, therefore, they deserve special care: they should be well washed, ironed and stored.

But taking care of them is not that simple. Many women who have this task know that a small mistake when washing a piece can destroy it.

Below is a list of the most common laundry mistakes. It's worth paying attention, after all, even without realizing it, you may be committing one of them. And of course, from now on you should avoid them altogether!

1. Mix the pieces

Many people, even by the rush of everyday life, end up putting all the clothes at once to wash. In the opinion of Rejane Quirino do Nascimento, textile specialist and training manager at 5àsec, the most common mistake we make is to mix delicate parts with normal ones.

It is crucial to recognize the care that each piece requires. Many clothes should be washed by hand only.

2. Ignore the color

It's not just the white pieces that deserve special care (see below). According to Rejane do Nascimento, clothes should be washed separately according to their color. "This color separation is necessary and we also have to be careful about the pieces that migrate, or, in the case of paint," he warns.

3. Ignore the tags

Most people do not have the habit of looking at the part label either at the time of purchase or at the time of washing. However, this is an important habit, as labels have symbols that show the best way to keep that outfit.

Rejane warns, however, that while this is an important measure, the labels are not always correct.

So, if in doubt, take your laundry to a laundry girl, for example, at the first wash, and talk to an expert on the subject.

4. Put together personal parts with household parts

Many people, due to lack of time, end up mixing personal and household items at the time of washing. However, this is a big mistake.

"This separation is absolutely important, as a matter of hygiene and also because we must not forget that our skin is very sensitive," says Rejane.

5. Mix very dirty parts with others

Sometimes, for different reasons, some parts are much dirtier than others. This is a fairly common case in homes that have children, for example. And mix them with the others? who have a little dirt or another? It can be very negative.

Rejane do Nascimento explains that the dirtiest clothes require a greater mechanical action, that is, they require a slightly longer procedure. Therefore they should be washed separately.

The less soiled parts do not have to undergo a heavier wash, this is damage that can be dispensed with.

6. Overdo it with washing powder

It is worth noting that it is not excess soap that will clean the clothes. Therefore, it is not necessary to abuse the quantity. After all, the more soap is added, the more parts will need to be rinsed and may fade. Also, if any foam residue is left on the parts, people with more sensitive skin may be allergic.

Today, modern machines already have a mark on the right amount of soap that you must put through the amount of clothes and water levels. But we advise that this washing powder be diluted, so it does not harm the fibers ?, says the 5àsec training manager.

7. Exaggerating the bleach

Many people, believing in an immediate cleaning of a particular piece, end up exaggerating the use of bleach. However, there are no miraculous tricks to remove stains and there are fabrics that can fade and even fray with the use of inappropriate products.

According to Rejane do Nascimento, are the best bleaches based on peroxide? that doesn't hurt the fibers much. ? But market bleach is used to lighten mainly light or heavily soiled clothing. Remembering the importance of removing all the product so that the piece is not yellow and the fibers do not lose elasticity. Normally we target the white pieces more ?, he explains.

8. Soak the piece for a long time

Rejane do Nascimento explains that only when the stain or dirt does not come out immediately should the piece soak for a maximum of two hours. It's just like a hair dye. When you spend more time on the wires, it doesn't mean it will make them better. Is this the case of soaking clothes? He says.

9. Forget the softener

• The fabric softener serves to realign the fibers. We can compare it to a hair conditioner. Not to mention that the product leaves a clean smell on clothes ?, highlights Rejane.

Special care with white parts

White clothes are part of most people's lives. They are a key piece in the wardrobe of health professionals such as doctors, dentists, physiotherapists, nutritionists, etc. and are also widely used, especially at the turn of the year.

However, because it is a very delicate color that can quickly become dirty or stained, white clothes require special care.

According to Rejane do Nascimento, they should be washed separately from the colored clothes and, if delicate, should be professionally treated.

• In case of accidental staining it is important that the part is washed and sanitized as soon as possible. Dry spots become sturdy and then harder to remove, says the expert.
