Birdseed milk: learn the benefits and learn how to do it at home

Birdseed is a grass originating from the Mediterranean region. From it is extracted a seed well known and commonly used to feed birds. Birdseed is nutrient-laden and has for some time been consumed by people looking to lose weight or even to help fight disease in a mixture called 'birdseed milk'.

After all, what is birdseed milk?

The drink is new to the world of healthy eating. According to nutritionist Paula Castilho, it is a food rich in nutrients such as proteins and vitamins of complex E and complex B. Although there are still few studies on this food, some experts claim that it brings a lot of improvements to the body.

Many benefits

Birdseed milk stands out for its natural anti-inflammatory power, which aids in the immune system and balances the basic functions of the body. It also has antioxidant action, which prevents premature aging and also aids in weight maintenance. Food is also an ally in the fight against cholesterol and diabetes, can reduce hypertension and improve muscle tone.

And its action does not stop there: Birdseed milk is indicated to help fight cardiovascular disease and many others, such as gastritis, hypertension and liver disease, such as cirrhosis. People with kidney stones or urinary tract infection may also benefit from ingesting this milk as it has a diuretic effect, which helps in eliminating toxins and decreases fluid retention.

Does the drink lose weight?

According to nutritionist Paula Castilho, if your goal is to lose weight, birdseed milk can help because fat cells are inflammatory. But the expert clarifies that, like any other food, he alone does not work miracles: you need to combine your intake with healthy habits, good nutrition and the practice of physical activities. The nutritionist highlights the diuretic action, which decreases the swelling.

Do it at home!

Paula Castilho explains that birdseed milk can be prepared at home. It's very simple. The first step is to clean the seeds well. Then pour five spoons of birdseed into a glass of water to moisturize and soak in refrigerator for 24 hours. The next day the birdseed needs to be washed again. Strain the water and replace it with one liter of filtered or boiled water. Beat in a blender for approximately four minutes. Strain and drink fasting 20 minutes before meals.

Remember: it must be made and consumed the same day so that it does not lose its properties. The nutritionist indicates the consumption of about two glasses of birdseed milk per day. Milk can be drunk with cinnamon or whipped with fruit.
