Foods That Fight Breast Cancer

Small changes in routine bring several benefits to women's health and can combat many diseases. And this transformation can start with eating habits. Studies show that following a balanced diet with foods that have anticancer properties helps prevent breast cancer, the disease that kills most women in Brazil.

The food menu to fight breast cancer is varied and brings foods that are not only healthy but also tasty. Ideally, you should have a balanced diet rich in lean protein sources, low-fat dairy products, fish, lean cheeses, grains and lots of fruits, vegetables and legumes.


Consumption of soy is very important to prevent breast cancer. The properties of this grain are linked to isoflavone, a chemical component that mimics the action of estrogen, female hormone responsible for prolonging the menstrual cycle. The fewer menstrual cycles a woman has throughout her life, the less likely she is to develop breast cancer.

Whenever possible, include cauliflower, cabbage, kale, and especially broccoli on the plate. They are called cruciferous foods, which contain large amounts of sulforaphane, a compound that stimulates the body's protective enzymes and eliminates cancer-causing chemicals.

Extra virgin olive oil also stands out on the list of foods that fight breast cancer. The antioxidants contained in olive oil help to prevent cell breakdown and decrease the incidence of tumor formation. It is recommended to consume two tablespoons of olive oil a day.


Consume garlic in your recipes at least once a week. The components in fresh garlic help to prevent the formation of carcinogens and only bring health benefits.

Beans and lentils also have the effect of inhibiting the arrival of carcinogens in cells. Eat these foods in salads, stews or in addition to any other meal.

Add to your nut recipes, they have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory nutrients that prevent the development of breast cancer. To enjoy its benefits, it is best to consume up to 28 grams of nuts a day.


Besides knowing which foods prevent breast cancer and can not miss the diet, one must also know which ones should be consumed in moderation. This is the case of animal fats, red meat, cheese and its derivatives and foods with many preservatives.

Excessive alcohol consumption and cigarette smoking are highly detrimental to health and are associated with an increased risk of breast cancer, so be happy with minimal drinking or avoid these substances.
