How to clean the washing machine

It is a mistake to think that just because the washing machine leaves the clothes clean and fragrant, it does not need to be cleaned either inside or outside. The washing machine needs to be cleaned every two months to remove any laundry detergent, fabric softener or even lint from cloths or fabrics that have stuck to the inside of the appliance.

Doing this does not take long. Just include this household activity in your cleaning and you'll never forget that your device needs care too. Check out some tips now and learn how to clean the hassle-free washing machine.

Mold and mildew

To remove mold, mildew and loosen accumulated dirt from inside the machine, simply make a homemade mixture of up to two cups of distilled white vinegar dissolved in the water inside the machine.

Then program the wash cycle, turn on the appliance and wait until the whole process is complete. If your machine has a hot water system, enjoy using the function for more effective cleaning.

Getting the rust off

If your machine is showing signs of rust, it is a sign that the cylinder is damaged. You have to call a technician, but you can remove the dirt from rust and prevent the clothes from spoiling. It is recommended to add a cup of lemon juice or lime into the machine. If you have the option of hot water, the better. Let the mixture take effect inside the machine on until the entire wash cycle is complete.

Removable Parts and Hard Parts

If the machine has removable parts, remove and wash one at a time with soap and water as there may be product residue on them.

Generally clean the outside of the washer using only the soft side of a sponge and a mixture of water with vinegar. Clean the inner and outer lid, sides, buttons and any other non-removable container.

The tip for cleaning difficult and smaller corners is to rely on the help of a toothbrush, cotton buds and toothpicks. For machines that are in open laundries, it is always best to protect the appliance with specific plastic covers to prevent dirt from accumulating quickly and the appliance from catching too much sunlight or rain.
