How to do well in a group dynamic

Group dynamics is a resource widely used in selective processes from micro companies to large national and multinational companies. Therefore, it is important to consider dynamics as an event of the same formality as a job interview and therefore deserves due attention and care.

We have selected a few tips for you to do well in your future group dynamics, avoiding gaffes and mistakes that can lower your chances of getting the job you want.

1 ? Know your professional side

Rate your professional profile. Find out what your positive and negative career points are and list your short and long term career goals.

In this way you prepare to perform in the group dynamics and will be aware of your goals and aspirations as a professional within that company.

2 ? Collect Company Information

Get as much information as possible about the company you plan to join. Research what the company produces or what services it provides, what the company's values are, find out who the CEO is and whether the company participates in social programs or sustainable projects, among other relevant information.

The more you know about the company the better it will be for you as it will be showing not only interest in the job, but also in the profile of your future employer. This will put you ahead of many who don't know what the company's activity is either.

3? Avoid embarrassment

Group dynamics can take anywhere from 3 to 5 hours. So set aside your whole morning or all afternoon for this activity. It would be very embarrassing to have to ask to leave early during the selection process. You would already be "starting with the left foot." If you work, take time off and rest easy to participate in the momentum without haste.

4? Best practices during group dynamics

Some attitudes can make you stand out in the group or throw the dynamics and your wave down. Check out what to do and what to avoid during a dynamic selection process:

  • Know how to discern when it is your time to speak and when it is your time to listen and be mindful of your dynamic companions;
  • Pay attention to all parts of the dynamics and try not to be distracted by your cellphone or parallel conversations, this can ruin your chances;
  • Be succinct and don't talk too much, show objectivity by answering only what you have been asked in a polite and intelligent manner;
  • Don't memorize ready-made phrases to try to impress the HR team applying the dynamic, be it yourself;
  • Don't be afraid to be the first to do any activity. Initiative is a quality much sought after by employers, but avoid running over someone else's turn;
  • The problems presented in group dynamics need solutions, do not despair and try to use creativity to come up with ideas to solve these issues.

5? Keep an eye on the vacancy

After joining group dynamics, many applicants end up going home and forgetting to keep in touch with the company to remind them that you exist. A tip if you are not hired this time, but are interested in working for the company is to send an email thanking you for the opportunity, even if you already know you have not been approved, and already show your interest in participating in future selection processes.
