How to wear a belt: the accessory that modernizes your look

The belt has been a women's ally for some time. Their functions are varied, from the usefulness of "holding the pants" to the act of leaving the most feminine woman marking her waist. It is an accessory that does not go out of style and, with its various models, makes the taste of all.

For fashion and image consultant Karla Alves, the belts are super high, especially to mark the waist. "They appeared thin, wide, with large buckles or made of different materials." Whether wearing on a dress, coat or blouse, belts help reveal women's curves.

Top 5 Belt Types

As you can see there is a wide range of belts, each of which has a more specific function and match a type of style, clothing and body shape. Get to know the top templates and learn how to use them:

Thin belt: It is the most delicate belt, perfect for romantic women who identify with the lady like style. They are great for marking the waist without creating volumes. According to Karla, the slim belt is ideal for women who have the shape of the hourglass or triangle body.

Wide belt: To wear this belt, you must be very careful. Depending on your body type and how it is worn, it can create excessive bust volume. Prefer to wear it with pants and shorts.

Golden metal belt: It was not long ago that the metal belt came about, but it has already gained the preference of women. It's great for making the look more modern and chic. Goes well for all styles and, when worn at the waist, defines the silhouette.

Leopard Belt: The leopard belt is ideal for women who like to get out of the ordinary place. It can transform all visuals, even the most basic, into super modern. Be careful when it comes in maxi print, this can increase the region in which it is used.

Flat belt with buckle: It's a classic in women's wardrobe. The belt with buckle is ideal for wearing on the hip, with jeans or with a dowel. Turns the combination of jeans and basic blouse into a more sophisticated look.

How to combine belt in look?

It sounds like an easy task, but some knowledge of some tips helps when choosing the best belt and the best way to wear it and match it in your look. "The belts are very versatile, both at the waist marking dresses, coats, blouses and shirts and at the hip complementing looks with flare, skinny pants and shorts," Karla details.

With the consultant's tips, were created five looks using belt with the main parts of the woman's wardrobe. Check out:

1. Belt with dress

This is one of the most feminine combinations, the belt marking the waist leaves the ultra-romantic look. Wear with loose or loose dresses, never combine with ruffles or dresses with too much volume. In the look below, the suggestion is of a more formal look, with the accessories in black and the thin belt at the waist combined with the evasê dress.

2. Belt with jeans

The look below is a very current proposal to wear a buckle belt. Flare jeans, basic t-shirt and colored scarpin. Just be careful not to overdo it and overcharge the accessories. When you want to wear a striking buckle belt, along with a colorful shoe, wear clothes with neutral colors.

3. Cardigan belt

Wearing a belt over a cardigan is a great way to keep your waist even when wearing a jacket. The tip also goes for blazer. Choose small belts, and preferably the color of the coat, this helps to create a well-marked and elongated silhouette. In the look below, the cardigan was worn with a skirt, but the same trick goes for wearing with dresses, pants and shorts.

4. Belt with shorts

Want to go out with a stripped look? Combine the medium-detail-length belt with shorts and a basic t-shirt. The flap helps in the comfort and the walking climate that the look calls for.

5. Belt with skirt

Another way to wear the belt is with a skirt. When the model is high waisted, use the belt to further mark the waist. Prefer evasive skirts that value the silhouette. Also be careful of the proportions. Although wide belts are high, they can create an exaggerated look.

Golden rules to get right when wearing a belt

The belt is a style aggregator to your look. "What creates a style and a cool visual identity in women or men is the composition of the look with the right accessories that give personality to the look", details the fashion and image consultant, Karla Alves.

Here are some tips to never go wrong when wearing your belt:

  • If you are very skinny, be careful when using it, both to mark the waist and hip. Belts that are too large can overdo the markup and end up creating an unsatisfactory result.Prefer medium or small size belts. If the belt gets too big for you, have a shoemaker adjust it. There is also the tip of tying it with a knot at the end.
  • For the busiest women, the tip is to be aware of what you want to mark and value. Too wide belts are also not ideal for women with more curves and tend to get more attention rather than marking the waist. The thin and medium models are good options. Do not wear belts with too much detail as they can also have the opposite effect.
  • Belts may be worn on formal occasions provided they are appropriate for such events. "In formal occasions the best belts are the thin ones, integers of crystals, stones or metals", adds the consultant.
  • Karla's tip for storing the belt and not deforming it is to hang it by the buckle and stretch it as much as possible - can be on the hook or tie them with a satin ribbon on the hanger is also an option ?, suggests.
