Is older partner better for woman?

Nowadays, many women still wonder if it is better to have a younger partner, the same age or older. Several studies in the area indicate that women benefit if they have relationships with older or same-aged men.

Some of this research shows that successful women prefer older, more attractive men as they seek deeper relationships. Because they feel more confident, they have more freedom to choose more attractive men. After all, they are not looking for a supportive relationship, one in which women depend on men to support them.

Older, more successful men continue to look for younger women who have common issues and more mature, precisely because they do not have the need for a deeper relationship. It is more beneficial for men to relate to younger women, as they will be able to take care of them when they need them and this increases their life expectancy.

However, extremes of age difference are detrimental to women's health. Marrying a much younger man decreases her life expectancy by up to 20 percent, and marrying men between seven and nine years old also decreases, but only 10 percent.

This is because the younger man does not become a partner who cares for his wife in the later years of his life and the older man is unlikely to be alive when his mate needs care.

Couples of the same age are generally believed to have a lasting and healthy relationship as they are both at the same stage in life, are of similar maturity, and are likely to have similar life experiences and aspirations. In addition, society is less rigid with same-age couples, while age-matched couples may suffer pressure and prejudice from family, friends, and people with whom they live.

But that choice depends so much on each individual, each need, and their view of relationships. Some seek out beautiful partners, others intelligent, others seek out activity mates, and so on. There is no rule that categorically states whether a younger or older partner is better for women, but research can help to understand women's choices a little better.
