Stretch Marks: You Can Avoid or Kill Them, Yes!

The teenagers have. Pregnant women may have. People who live getting fat and thin too. Stria is a skin problem that will eventually appear in your life. But what also came up are the numerous ways to prevent and soften these famous (and dreaded) skin stripes.

Women suffer more

Yes, they are more affected with stretch marks than men. Is this because a woman has two hormones? progesterone and estrogen? which are mainly responsible for the breakdown of the elastic fibers of the skin.

Stretching appears when the skin stretches and, even though it can be stretched, there is a limit. If the pressure is greater than the skin can handle, it breaks. The stretch mark is nothing more than this break of the skin.

Men suffer from the problem when they gain a lot of weight (belly and arms are the most affected areas) and their skin is not well hydrated, as dryness of the skin impairs its natural elasticity, and when there is a need for skin to stretch, there is greater ease in breaking the elastic fibers and the consequent appearance of stretch marks.

White or reddish

At first, when they appear, the striations are reddish / pink. It is at this stage that they are the easiest to treat. If you see a dermatologist right away, with the right cream you can get rid of them faster. When they become whitish (or pearly, as some say) they are already 'adult', so the treatment needs to be deeper, take longer and may involve peelings.

What causes stria

Get fat and lose weight: stretch marks tend to appear more often in people who always gain and lose weight, the known concertina effect. This is because, with weight gain, the epidermis cells do not have time to double as new fat cells require. Thus, stretch marks appear in regions where weight gain is greatest, such as the butt, belly, arms, thighs, and breasts.

Stretch phase: When rapid growth occurs during puberty and adolescence, the body needs time to adjust to the growth of the organs, and when it does not, the stria appears. Therefore, many teenagers, even thin ones, have stretch marks.

Jet Muscles: when muscles appear too quickly, they stretch the skin too much and break its fibers. The result? Stretch marks! So be discouraged from taking supplements on your own. If you want muscle growth, it is best to consult the dual physical trainer and nutritionist. This way you do not take risks.

Pregnancy: Pregnancy hormones along with weight gain and belly growth can lead to stretch marks. Therefore, it is essential to control the weight (the good thing is to put on a pound a month) as well as try to leave the skin hydrated with the use of powerful oils and moisturizers. Nowadays, there are specific products for pregnant skin. Opt for them, which are more efficient.

Skin dryness: Sun abuse can contribute to the emergence of stretch marks. The sun makes the fibers more fragile and compromises their properties. Very hot baths that remove the protective layer of the skin and lack of hydration also facilitate the appearance of stretch marks.

The treatments that solve

There are several types of stretch mark treatments that work. Forget the myth that stretch marks have no cure. But only who can indicate with 100% certainty is your dermatologist, there is no point in asking for a peel, for example. The most accurate are:

Fraxel Laser SR 1500: This laser is ideal for more adult, whitish stretch marks as it makes microperforations in the skin, which will respond with collagen healing. You need at least three sessions at biweekly or monthly intervals to see the results.

Pulsed light: It is a kind of laser that treats reddish, brown skin lesions and microvines. It is ideal for erasing stretch marks at an early stage. Five to eight sessions are required.

Transcision: This is a surgical procedure in which the doctor inserts a thin needle with a micro-knife at the tip, this instrument is specific for stretch marks. The professional peels off the sides, the top and under the skin, breaking the elastic fibers of the site. In this way, the stria is filled with new collagen and its edges come together, becoming imperceptible. This technique presents very satisfactory results and requires the use of elastic strap for 3 months. Only one session is required.

Peeling: It is performed by sanding the skin as well, due to the abrasive action of the aluminum oxide microcrystals.Peeling gently eliminates the superficial layers of the epidermis, which leads to cell regeneration, meaning you get a new skin. It is best suited for older, whitish stretch marks.

To prevent

Always use moisturizers and oils with moisturizing properties (those based on urea, grape seed and almond oil are the most moisturizing) after bathing because it is when the skin most easily absorbs the product is the first way to avoid stretch marks. As well as weight control, do not abuse hot showers and sun without sunscreen.

And remember: From the first sign of stretch mark, schedule an appointment with your dermatologist. The faster you start taking care of the problem, the faster and easier it says goodbye to your skin.
