Vegetarians have a more active sex life, according to research

Care with food is fundamental to a healthy life. Eating properly, eating low fat and giving preference to fruits and vegetables is the appeal of every nutritionist. The novelty is that a diet based on the consumption of vegetables can have an influence on an individual's sex life.

At least, says a study by Dr. Michael Wasserman of the Department of Environmental Sciences, Policy and Management at the University of Berkeley in the United States and published by the journal Hormones and Behavior. The research points to evidence that consumption of vegetables, combined with soy, increases hormone levels in the body. This growth in hormonal rate would be responsible for the improvement of sexual activity.

Dr. Wasserman and his team observed a group of red monkeys for about 11 months. According to him, the human organism is very similar to those of apes, having similar reactions when stimulated by certain hormones. Monkey feeding on the leaf of a tropical tree that has similar properties to soybean, had a considerable increase in sexual activity observed by the researcher.

This is because this tree, like soybeans, has an estrogen-like composition, which has caused monkeys to have a higher level of "sex hormone", estradiol, and "stress hormone". ? the cortisol? This explains the higher incidence of fighting and aggression among primates, as well as the increased frequency of sexual intercourse.

Earlier research by Belarmino University in Louisville, the United States, suggested that most men believe meat consumption increases virility. Wasserman's research undoes this belief and proves, in a new way, that consuming only vegetables improves, in addition to hormone levels, body blood circulation, including the sexual organs. This improvement would also help in improving the sex life.

According to Mimi Bekhechi, a member of the animal rights NGO known as PETA in the United Kingdom, when it comes to Can those who eat meat be as slow as blood trying to squeeze through their clogged arteries? do vegans already have the stamina to keep the party going all night long?

Veganism is known as a more radical form of vegetarianism. Supporters of this lifestyle believe that humans should live without exploiting animals; For this reason, they exclude from their diet, as do meat, any animal products such as gelatin, dairy products, eggs, honey and sausages. Nor do they use fur, leather, wool, silk pearls, among others, using only garments made with fabrics of plant origin (such as cotton and linen, for example).

For those who already adopt or intend to adopt vegetarianism as a lifestyle, the research led by Wasserman brings a new one? it's interesting ? reason to persist in this idea.
