7 Natural Ways to Lighten Hand Stains

Have you heard that there is no aesthetic treatment that rejuvenates the hands? So be aware that things are no longer the case today, as you can use procedures such as peeling, laser and pulsed light to alleviate dark spots that give you an older look.

In addition, there are a number of very affordable home tricks you can try to lighten these spots, leaving your hands with a softer texture and a more even skin tone. Check out 7 tips we have prepared for you:

1. Apple Cider Vinegar

Because it has a very acidic pH, apple cider vinegar has the power to close the pores, which helps make the skin look younger and lighten sun spots.

To try this tip, dip a cotton ball in a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar and apply the product to the stains. Let it stand for 20 minutes (stay out of the sun in the meantime), rinse with warm water and apply a hand moisturizer. You can do this trick three times a week.

2. Milk

Lactic acid present in milk acts as a sunscreen whitening agent. However, to see good results, you must be persistent in applying this ingredient for several weeks.

The trick is to soak a cotton swab in the milk, apply the stains at bedtime and wait for it to dry before bedtime. Rinse only the next morning. Repeat the procedure every night.

3. Natural yogurt

Natural yogurt works similarly to milk when it comes to smoothing hand blemishes, but its effect is more powerful. This ingredient makes the skin softer, stimulates regeneration and even helps to keep the region hydrated.

To get these benefits, simply apply yogurt to the stained region as if it were a lotion. Let stand for 20 minutes before rinsing. If possible, apply at night, allow it to dry before bed, and remove only the next day.

4. Orange peel, milk and lemon

This trick combines the benefits of milk with vitamin C, which helps block melanin production (the pigment that gives skin color and blemishes when it is in excess). In addition, orange and lemon contain citric acid, which helps to regenerate the skin. For this tip, you will need the following ingredients:

  • 3 tbsp orange zest
  • 2 tbsp milk
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon glycerine

Mix all ingredients in a blender or with the aid of a mixer, apply on the stains and let stand for 15 minutes. Rinse with plenty of running water and apply sunscreen. The function of glycerin in this recipe is to make your hands more hydrated.

Important: Stay indoors and out of the light while doing this trick, as sunlight can cause new stains on contact with fruit acids.

5. Papaya Peel

Papaya peel contains papain, an enzyme that promotes skin renewal by eliminating dead cells and allowing them to be replaced by new ones.

To try this tip, peel a slice of ripe papaya and rub the inside of the peel on the stained region. Let stand for 15 minutes and rinse with cold water. Repeat the trick 3 to 4 times a week.

6. Rose water, baking soda and honey

Rose water helps fight skin aging, baking soda promotes beautiful exfoliation, and honey is a moisturizing and nourishing agent. That is, this recipe has everything you need to renew the most superficial cellular layer of your hands, remove blemishes and leave your skin super soft. Write down the amount of each ingredient:

  • 2 teaspoons of rose water
  • 3 tbsp baking soda
  • 1 tbsp honey

Mix all ingredients, apply to area with stains, let stand for 20 minutes and rinse with cold water. Repeat the procedure every day.

7. Radish, Honey and Turmeric

Although honey is a well-known ingredient for skin care, radish and turmeric are not that common.

However, both contain properties that help lighten the spots on the hands: Turmeric acts as an exfoliating and anti-aging agent, while radish offers vitamin C, which blocks melanin production. So you will need:

  • 1 medium radish
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 1 tsp turmeric

Put all ingredients in a processor and beat until a paste.Apply the mixture to the spots and massage for 5 minutes. Let it sit for another 10 minutes and rinse with cold water. Repeat the procedure twice a week.

All of these tips are homemade tricks, so they may not work as expected or take a long time before you can tell a difference. Stop using these recipes in case of allergy and see a dermatologist.

The best way to prevent the emergence of new stains is to protect your hands from contact with cleaning products and apply sunscreen every day, preferably with SPF 30. Your hands certainly appreciate this care!
