Porcelain veneer: treatment for a perfect smile

Smiling is a good medicine and can be very helpful as well. But it's not any smile. Healthy teeth are important, but for many people, shiny white teeth are even more important.

Therefore, aiming for a beautiful and perfect smile, professionals have developed a series of techniques, from whitening procedures to new toothpastes, to help patients have the perfect smile. One of the latest techniques for teeth beautification is the porcelain veneer.

What is the porcelain veneer?

Veneers are small porcelain laminates tailored to the patient whose natural teeth have some aesthetic compromise in color or shape, such as darkened, cracked, broken, crooked and misaligned teeth.

These prostheses, also indicated for the correction of misplaced teeth when the patient does not want to put orthodontic braces, are fixed in the front of the tooth, changing their shape and leaving them the same color and size of natural teeth. Parts may take a few days to be ready after mold making, but the result can be surprising.

The advantages of opting for this type of aesthetic treatment are mainly related to the fast result and the high strength of porcelain veneers. On the other hand, its cost is relatively high, it can range from $ 1,500 to $ 3000, and its removal is very complicated.

How is the procedure?

According to dentist Nicole Baumeier (CRO / PR-22188), the procedure is simple. In the first sessions, it is necessary to minimally wear the front of the tooth. The overall shape of the tooth is unchanged, and what is removed is a layer of the enamel.

After the tooth is worn, the professional will mold it and send the model to the prosthetic, who will make the porcelain veneers. Because the parts manufacturing process takes a long time while waiting for the definitive parts, the patient uses provisional parts.

With the definitive facets in hand, the dentist will adjust them and then cement them. To finish the procedure, the professional performs finishing and polishing techniques. It is worth remembering that like any other cosmetic procedure, the patient must return to the dentist for maintenance and teeth cleaning must be constantly performed.

Contraindications

There are contraindications for people who have bruxism or teeth-biting habits, as in both cases the facet may crack. In addition, the procedure should also be avoided in patients with severe enamel defects.
