The Importance of Protein in Diet

Proteins play a fundamental role in the body and therefore cannot be left out of the diet. These nutrients form inside our cells from amino acids. There are about 200 amino acids in nature, but only 21 of them are metabolized by the human body and of these, eight are considered essential.

That is, it is the amino acids that, if not synthesized by the body, need to be supplied by food, as they contribute to increased physical endurance and are used by muscles to provide energy during long-term physical activities.

Other extremely important functions of proteins are regulating the functioning of various body organs and acting as antibodies, defending our body from aggressors.

In addition, they act in tissue repair and construction and are essential for fat loss and exercise.

Everyone needs to eat protein foods daily, but daily needs vary from person to person, confirm age, weight, gender, disease, and other factors.

Protein Source Food

High quality protein source foods are essentially of animal origin. These include eggs, milk, fish, poultry and meat, in particular muscles and viscera. Although in smaller quantities, they are also present in leafy vegetables, lentils, beans, peas and soy.
