These photos will change your thinking about calories.

Do you need to lose weight because of health or because you are not feeling well with your body? In this case, you may already be suffering from the thought that you will have to reduce the amount of calories you eat, that is, eat less, which will probably make you hungry.

It's true that most weight loss diets require people to reduce their intake of foods such as sweets and fried foods, but the part of feeling hungry is not necessarily true. Eating fewer calories does not mean making a tiny dish, but making good choices.

Here are some photos that show that eating healthy is far from starving or failing to eat what you like best:

1. Meat with 5% and 12% fat

Although these dishes are very similar, there is a difference of almost 200 calories between them. This is explained by the type of meat used in each: the left dish was made with meat containing 5% fat, while the right side meat has 12%.

In addition, the less caloric dish was prepared with a spray olive oil (which is not very common in Brazil), while the other took 1 teaspoon of this ingredient. Anyway, is olive oil a good fat for our body? opting for lean meats is what will really make a difference.

2. Sauce and mayonnaise: Avoid additional calories

These two salad dishes, baked potato and tuna look identical, just as they did in the previous photo. However, there is a difference of 246 calories between them, which is explained by the choice of sauce, mayonnaise and oil that were used to prepare each meal.

In addition to the previously mentioned olive oil spray, the left dish had Caesar sauce and mayonnaise in their light versions, while the more caloric dish was prepared with regular versions of these products.

A meal consisting of salad, potato and tuna consists of a healthy and balanced dish. But if you want to lose weight, it's worth keeping an eye on these "invisible" calories.

3. No use just looking at calories

These portions of almonds and jelly beans have 188 calories each, but that doesn't mean they have the same effect on your health. After all, calories are not the only thing that matters when deciding what you are going to eat.

Almonds offer benefits such as controlling blood sugar levels (which protects against type 2 diabetes) and regulating good and bad cholesterol levels. In addition, the good fat in these oilseeds helps give you a feeling of satiety, making you eat less later.

The candies, in turn, are rich in artificial colors and flavors and contain a large amount of sugar. As a result, do they cause glycemic spikes and become even more hungry shortly after being consumed? without offering any benefit to the body.

4. Portion size also matters

This one is easy, isn't it? The difference of 150 calories between the two dishes is the amount of peanut butter: 15 grams on the left toast and 40 grams on the right. That is, you do not have to stop eating everything you like, but those who want to lose weight need to keep an eye on the quantities of the most caloric items.

5. The difference at the end of the day is big

In this comparison, we can see how the choices can make a lot of difference at the end of a day: 550 calories more on the right. As we have seen before, some of the reasons for this are the amount of fat in the meat and the caloric difference between the light and regular versions of Caesar sauce and mayonnaise.

In addition, these two compositions are also differentiated by orange juice (regular and light), almond milk porridge (with and without sugar) and yogurt (whole and skim).

As you can see, reducing your calorie intake doesn't necessarily mean eating less, but making smart choices without having to deprive yourself of what you like best (after all, there's even a chocolate in the picture above!). Food is not your enemy, but your relationship with it can be even better if you pay attention to these little details.
