Skin Care During Pregnancy

With so many changes that occur in the woman's body with pregnancy, the skin also feels the effects. Some become oily, others dry, may appear blemishes, acne and even allergies to products that were normally used before pregnancy. Therefore, future moms need to redouble their skin care during pregnancy.

With weight gain, the elasticity of the skin reaches its limit and there stretch marks appear. The best way to avoid them is by intensely moisturizing the skin. Use creams with almond oil, grape seed, avocado or macadamia in the composition as they help maintain the elasticity of the skin. Moisturizing cream should be used on the belly, buttocks, thighs and breasts, which are the areas of the body where stretch marks usually appear in pregnancy.

Even though it is natural to gain weight in pregnancy, you need to keep an eye on the balance to not get too fat. Eat foods rich in vitamin C, which stimulates collagen and protein production. Vitamin A, E, fruits and vegetables are also on the list of recommended foods. Avoid fried foods, excess salt and sweets.

The appearance of dark spots is among the main skin problems that can occur during the nine months. They are caused by hormonal changes and changes in skin pigmentation, which produces more melanin. Blemishes can appear anywhere on the face or neck, and in women with dark or black skin they can be lighter than the natural skin tone.

Exposure to the sun makes the spots darker, so the main tip to prevent skin blemishes in pregnancy is to apply sunscreen every day, even on cloudy days and during winter. If the spots are too obvious, you can try to disguise them using makeup. Usually the spots begin to disappear about three months after delivery.

Hormonal changes during pregnancy can also make your skin look greasy with blackheads and pimples. With the end of pregnancy, this oiliness tends to decrease. But until then, it is best to use soaps and oily skin-specific products, especially those in gel form.

Some pregnant women get dry skin. In this case, the recommendation is to give preference to the bath with warm to cold water, without using too much soap and using creams that reinforce the hydration of the skin.
