Which is better: wear glasses or lenses?

Today, people with vision problems no longer necessarily have to live wearing glasses. In addition to this option, there are also contact lenses and myopia surgery.

There are those who prefer to wear only glasses and those who prefer to put on contact lenses, because each person adapts better to one type of treatment and there are those who alternate between wearing them. It is therefore important to know the pros and cons of using each vision treatment and then choose which one is right for you.

Advantages and disadvantages of wearing glasses

The main advantage of wearing vision correction glasses is that it does not pose an eye health hazard as it does not touch the eye, as is the case with contact lenses. Eyeglasses are the most traditional form of treatment for this type of problem and can be found in many different shapes, colors and prices.

On the other hand, wearing glasses can cause some discomfort because they distort peripheral vision. Another negative aspect of glasses is that they can break, and you need to be very careful with them. Glasses can also be considered unattractive to appearance, but this is a personal matter.

Another downside of glasses is that they are less practical, for example, if a person plays in more hectic sports such as handball or volleyball, they may get injured or break the glasses during the game. And practicing physical activity without glasses can be difficult if the person's vision problem is severe.

Advantages and disadvantages of using contact lenses

Contact lenses are a more practical alternative in some ways compared to glasses. They can be worn while playing sports without fear of breaking them. Moreover, they do not change their appearance as they are almost imperceptible. Another advantage of wearing contact lenses is that it provides better vision correction.

However, contact lenses require more care, hygiene and dedication time so that their use is not harmful to eye health. You must always keep them clean, be aware of their expiration date and never sleep with the lens.

Another drawback to wearing lenses is that when putting on lenses, one needs to be very careful not to contaminate the lens with impurities present in the fingers and nails. Care must also be taken with regard to its storage, which should be made in the specific vial and soaked in an appropriate solution for this purpose.

Finally, it is important to consult your eye doctor to find out exactly what your problem is and what would be the best alternative to fix it. It is possible that surgery is a solution and you no longer need glasses or lenses. However, if this is not the case, be sure to choose a treatment, choose the one that is most comfortable for you and keep your eyesight healthy.
