You got fat? The culprit could be your husband, study says

A study from the University of Edinburgh, Scotland, showed that changing habits after marriage is common and that this can directly impact weight gain especially for women.

To reach this conclusion, around 20,000 people were analyzed, taking into consideration their health, genetics and the way they ate in childhood and adulthood.

The explanation

The result showed that, regardless of their physical type, living with their partner in the same environment can end up interfering with food. That is, if the partner has bad habits, with the consumption of many processed products and treats in general, this may influence the woman, causing her to start eating this way and, consequently, causing the weight to increase.

On the other hand, there are also good influences. A partner who usually practices physical activity tends to encourage the woman to start exercising as well.

Why are women majority?

The odd thing is that changes happen more often with women. This has to do with the fact that even today there is a greater burden on females, especially after marriage. While for the man little changes in his routine, for the woman happens an accumulation of functions? The work was done with caring for the house and, in the future, with the children.

This overload can lead to anxiety and food is used as an escape valve for many situations. In addition, moments for two tend to include dinner and snacks, with unhealthy foods having a constant presence in this new phase of life.

Given all the data, researchers' tip is for couples to encourage each other to lead a healthier lifestyle, either by creating an exercise routine or by starting to include different items on the daily menu.
