8 tips for making good clothes and shoes online shopping

Buying clothes over the internet has thousands of advantages: ability to search and track prices, greater variety than in physical stores and normally more attractive installments. However, care must be taken not to miss the size or to buy one thing thinking it is another, as there may be differences between the photos and the actual piece.

• To avoid headaches as much as possible, one should know the site sale, exchange and return policy. Trying to find out what the store's clothes look like and pre-purchase customer service are also good tips ?, says Felipe Lee, Orbis Fashion's sales manager.

Remember that the Consumer Protection Code provides for a period of seven days after the receipt of the goods for the consumer to request the exchange or even the return of the purchased product, either because of divergence in model, size or even if they simply do not have liked the merchandise.

But to lessen the chance of getting there, check out eight tips for making good clothing and shoe purchases over the internet without missing the size:

1. Check your measurements. Many online shopping sites offer a standard table so you can find out their size. To help you with this mission, the standard measurements that should be on the tip of your tongue are: hip (use a tape measure in the most prominent region), waist (tape measure in the narrowest region) and bust (tape measure in the most salient region, aligning it just below the armpits).

2. When in doubt, buy a larger number. "It is best to try to buy the piece in a larger size and have it adjusted if necessary," suggests Danyla Borobia, personal stylist and director of fashion consulting at Divan of Style.

3. In international purchases, use a measurement converter. It is important to remember that the numbering of clothes in Brazil is different from abroad. "A 36 jeans in Brazil is a 25 or 26 in the United States," explains Elaine de Rezende Brechtbuhl, fashion consultant at E.PIA Style Consulting, adding that there is also a difference in models. "The body of the Brazilian is more curvaceous and the slimmer waist, different from the body of American who usually have little hip and little waist." Stylist and personal stylist Guuh Green recommends the NetYou website for conversion of measurements to international standards.

4. Don't get too attached to the colors and details. Unfortunately, there's a good chance the model you fell in love with isn't exactly what you envisioned live. ? Colors vary greatly depending on the part material and also due to the monitor color settings of each computer. To alleviate problems, it is best to try to see the details of the enlarged part and see it from all angles. If you have any questions, contact the site and ask for more information before purchase ?, recommends Danyla. Nathalia Tosto, editor of the Stuff We Love blog, calls for special attention to purchases made on sites like Ebay and Aliexpress.

5. See reviews from consumers who have already purchased on the site. Many websites offer a comment section for each product sold. Another very useful option is, if the company is Brazilian, consult it on complaint sites, such as Reclame Aqui and Consumidor.org.br. For foreign portals, it is worth seeking forums. There you will find more information about after sales, how the quality of the product received and how exchanges and returns work in practice.

6. Check site exchange and return policy. You already know that Procon guarantees the right of withdrawal, expressed within seven business days of receipt of the goods. Even so, Danyla recommends searching the exchange and returns section of the site prior to purchase to make sure the information is clear.

7. Research prices before you buy. For clothing, it is a bit more difficult, but for shoes it is worth appealing to price survey sites such as Buscapé, Bondfaro and Zoom. The latter even shows the price evolution of the product in recent days, so you know if you are paying more or less than the average.

8. Check freight amount before buying. Elaine points out that when you shop online, you won't have to pay parking and gas to the mall, so it's still worth paying a small amount of freight. However, check the value before closing to decide if the final purchase price is really worth the risk of buying something at a distance. The good news is that several websites offer free shipping for a minimum purchase amount.
