How to hide tattoo with makeup: youtuber teaches step by step

You may die of love for your tattoo (and we really want you to be really proud), but on occasion you may want to disguise it.

Maybe you got a job at a company that doesn't accept tattoos or maybe you're about to meet the super-conservative mother-in-law.

Also, you may be planning a tour where tattoos are prohibited, such as some public places in Japan.

Whatever the reason, know that it is possible to disguise your tattoo with special makeup, and the one who teaches the trick is youtuber Karen Bachini. Check which items you will need and follow the step by step below:

  • An orange makeup product (concealer, lipstick or eyeshadow)
  • Any high coverage base
  • Translucent powder
  • Foundation brush
  • Makeup sponge

The indication of the? Orange product? It may seem strange at first, but this is a great way to disguise tattoos that carry ink in bold colors, especially blue and green.

In the following video, youtuber Karen Bachini indicates that if you don't have any orange products, you can even use a red lipstick? she even demonstrates covering half the tattoo with lipstick in that color and the other half with orange concealer. It's a little harder to hide the red lipstick with the foundation, but it also works.

The only important point when choosing a lipstick (be it red or orange) is that you should opt for a drier version, otherwise your disguise may end up staining your clothing.

Regarding the high coverage base, Karen explains that you can use a product of any brand (Dermacol, Mary Kay, Mac, Vult, Dermablend) and that this type of base is easily found in pharmacies and cosmetics stores.

Step by step to hide the tattoo

The trick to disguising the tattoo is simple, but you need a little patience to repeat the steps until you hide all the marks. Check out the tutorial:

1. Always start with very clean skin, ready to receive makeup;

2. Apply the orange product of your choice. In the video, youtuber covers half of the tattoo with a red lipstick;

3. If you prefer, you can use an orange concealer as shown by Karen on the other half of the tattoo;

4. Using a sponge, apply translucent powder on the lipstick or concealer until it is very dry;

5. Now, with the help of a suitable brush, cover the tattoo with the high coverage base, always tapping;

6. It is important to slightly exceed the limits of the tattoo to be able to smoke with the skin later;

7. Use a makeup sponge to smudge the edges;

8. Wait a few minutes for the foundation to dry and apply more translucent powder to seal the makeup;

9. Apply one more layer of high coverage base with the brush to disguise all the details of the tattoo well;

10. Use the sponge to smudge the edges again;

11. Apply a new layer of compact powder;

12. Apply a makeup spray on the cover to waterproof your outfit. If you do not have this product, it may be hair spray as well;

13. Ready! Tattoo properly covered with a makeup that will not stain your clothing.

Remember that although hair spray can be used on the arm or leg, we should not use this product to waterproof the makeup of the face, because the skin of this region is very sensitive.

If your tattoo is small and only with fine lines, without very strong colors, you can only cover it with foundation and dust, without the use of orange product or red lipstick. Likewise, larger tattoos may need more layers to be well covered. The more you practice, the more natural your disguise will look.
